I feel like a horrible rabbit parent having to post about Buck passing. I will post in the infirmary section later to explain that aspect.

In the meantime. Is there anything I can do for Peanut to help comfort her? She bonded quickly to Buck and they snuggled and nestled into each other at night. I have moved her out of her bunny condo and into an x-pen in my room with some of her favorite things and a stuffed animal (hoping if she wants to snuggle, she could with the stuffy). She is eating well and making her new territory like it's her job.

Are there any signs to look for to see that she is depressed or missing Buck? She was around when the incident occurred, but not when he actually passed.

I am currently in search of a new possible bondmate for her.

Any encouragement, info or advice will be greatly appreciated!

So very sorry... and sorry I didn't see this earlier. :(

If she didn't see his body, it might take a few days, but she'll probably get depressed and quiet.

I'd put a stuffed toy in with her ASAP and just pay a lot of attention to her.

If you have a 'petting' relationship with her, I'd 'groom' around her eyes and rub her ears like you were another bunny.

Treats are always a nice distraction, maybe something like raisins or a fragrant herb wrapped in hay and stuffed into a paper towel roll.

And I`d try another mate sooner than later, glad you`re looking, maybe some Rescue Me mods may have some suggestions?

Sorry again.

sas :(

She was always the least cuddly of the two. Buck was a big lover. Anyone that came around he would ask for attention immediately.

She is willing to let me groom her for a short period of time before she ready to go back to her pen.

I have been in contact with someone in my area with a bun needing a new home. Since neither one of them is fixed, they will be separated in a bunny condo until they are both fixed and ready for bonding. They will be able to get to know each other this way as well.

Peanut seems to be eating and eliminating well, but she just sits in a corner. I feel awful for her. She has never been a lone bunny.
