Hi, as some of you may already know I am fairly new to breeding. We are still getting our stock together and have a couple of questions so we know which direction we need to be going.

Netherland Dwarfs: we found a great chart so we are okay here

Mini Rexes:we have a black and a broken black both bucks....what do we breed with them? is there a chart somewhere?.

Lionheads: we have two BEW bucks, one black himalayan doe, and one vienna marked orange doe...what do we breed them with, and is there a chart somewhere we could use later if needed.

Dutch: we have one black doe and one blue doe....help!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there are color breeding rules out there I just haven't found them all yet and I want to make sure that Iam making the best decisions I can for my babies.

Well genetics for each breed is all the same. You just have to watch out and make sure that you won't get unrecognized colors for some breeds.

Blacks can be bred with a lot of things...other blacks, blues, torts, black or blue otter, chinchilla... (solid or broken, it don't matter)

This is floating around and only shows the recongnized colors for mini rex: http://mr-colors.tripod.com/

BEW does best with BEW (causes weird white patches and blue eyes in other colors... unless you dont care, then it doesn't matter. lol) The himi can be bred with solids like black, blue and REW and also to other himis.

For your dutch, I would reccomend getting a black buck. It can be bred to both. ;) There are tort dutch right? You can breed that to a black too.

edit: added a link for ya. :)

I would breed the BEW to the vienna marked which will give you half BEW and half Vvm. When breeding your BEW's make sure that it is noted on the pedigree that the vienna gene is there because vienna marked rabbits are not showable and you wouldn't want someone buying a vienna carrier and not knowing it.
