Hi I am reaching out for anyone that has experienced or is going through the same.
Coco has only just turned 1, she is a house rabbit and unfortunately has some health problems. I started to notice that she was having diorreaha so took her to the vets and they tried different medicines, dietary etc but no luck. Finally they reffered her to a exotic specialist, from tests and xrays they found that she had renal disease and a fatty tissue pushing on the gut.
She is now on medication for her renal disease and from tests is working well.
The specialist performed a laparotomy and two samples of the tissue were taken, and came back non cancerous (thankgod) and have agreed it is likely to be a lipoma.
For now I agreed with the specialist to give coco time to repair as she has been through alot in a year.
She seems a happy bunny, and well in herself, because of the tissue sitting on her gut she has regular diorreaha which being a house rabbit and having cream carpets is becoming difficult. Has anyone got any advice for this? She loves being in the living room with me and I feel so bad putting her in the kitchen when poorly.
Also I'm looking to look into the surgery root in a few months as I worry about the tissue growing and causing more problems and I worry about her being in pain, has anyone had this surgery performed on their rabbit?
Her appetite is really good and when she doesn't have diorreaha her poos are healthy which is positive.
When I first got coco the plan was to get her a friend but because of her illness it has been put on hold, although I now think it would be the wrong thing to do now as coco requires alot of care with regular medicine, cleaning and bum washes etc.
Thankyou for reading and please reach out if you have advice

I don't have experience with this, but have dealt with rabbits that have had significant genetic and acquired digestive disorders, so understand having to deal with the difficulties they present.

Since your rabbit likes to be in the living room with you, maybe you could set up a penned in area for her there near you, that has a waterproof sheet covering and disposable puppy pee pads to make any cleanup needed easier.

With the diarrhea, you mention you tried dietary changes. What changes to the diet did you try, and was there any sort of improvement with those changes? What is her diet now?

Yes that's good advice thankyou
I've tried all different things with her diet and no change, from what I can gather it happens when her gut is full so the tissue presses on her gut causing diarrhea so it's difficult to manage it.

Did you ever try a free fed grass hay only diet? No pellets/nuggets, veggies/greens, fresh grass or forage, or any other foods. Just unlimited straight high quality(no mold, no noxious weeds, low dust) medium coarse grass hay, salt lick, and water(confirmed uncontaminated source).
*medium coarse is a mix of leaf and stems

If not, I don't know if it would help in your rabbits situation, but for my megacolon rabbits and any other digestive illness problems I've encountered, good quality grass hay has always been the best thing to correct and/or help manage those issues.
