This morning I tried to clean my rabbit's scent glands for the first time. He is 2 years old, but I never knew that these glands needed to be cleaned periodically. I read as much as I could online before giving it a try. I kept reading descriptions of the glands as looking like slits in the skin that you gently separate for the cleaning. I located them fairly easily, but I also observed something I hadn't read about. Outside of each slit, which I am assuming is a gland, there is a small sac-like object with a dark brown dot in the middle of it. (not his testicles) Can anyone explain what these are? Also, while I was cleaning him, the substance I was getting was of a light brown color- not the dark brown or black that I saw in all the videos I watched. Should I be concerned?
