Well I was just trying to cook chicken I boil a hole chicken once a month. Well this month I did it in the crock pot well I ended up making chicken soup so I added noodle and going to get vegys in a minute.

And crock pot meals that people know how to make.

I am trying to start cooking better oh the boil chicken is normally for sandwhiches

I just made chicken soup from scratch yesterday :) We had roasted chicken on sunday so I boiled the bones from that to make the stock.

I dont' know too many healthy cock pot recipes. I usually only make BBQ beans or cabbage rolls in there. Not exactly "healthy" foods.

I'm a veggie myself but I do make chicken and veggie broth for the dogs.

I find it pretty hard finding healthy good foods without meat. I mean yeah, veggies, fruit, nuts, ect. But as far as veggies meals/soups that have great taste that I can make I am at a loss. If I want a good meal other than the few I can make I get Kashi/Healthy Choise veggie/vegan meals.

Good luck.

Oh, tip - insted of using whole wheat noodles(I am hoping you do use whole wheat :p ), use rice noodles! Rice has no gluten in it and does not make you hungry for more like regular noodles so get rice noodles. Walmart has them for pretty cheap and they are good!

I like my chicken soup with celery, carrots, lil bit of potato. If I don't have potato i put in some elbow macaroni. I found rice elbow macaroni in a Chinese grocery store and the texture is so great. Extra "al dente" / bouncy no matter how you cook it because it's made from rice powder. I like elbow shape because it fits nicely in a spoonful :)

Crockpot Ragout

2lbs stew meat
1lb bacon
2 bags of cali blend veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrot)
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 vidalia onions, sliced

Take the bacon and line the crockpot with it. Layer the onions over that. Then put the stew meat on that. Top with the garlic and then the veggies. Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. Top with several cups of parmesan and cook another 30 min. This is totally yummy and healthy if you use fresh parmesan.

Its blaned so blaned.

I dont know what to do I thought I put to much seasoning.

I cant season alwell we will add more tomorrow

I love making chicken soup, though i have a bad habbit of checking if we have chicken in the first place... So sometimes instead of Chicken soup I make Chicken-less Chicken soup. Cait would know what I'm talking about.

The only thing I've ever used my crock pot for is brisket, cooked with brown sugar, spices, and Guinness. Super delicious.

But, my days of eating meat are numbered, so my crock pot will soon be useless here. Too bad, it's a nice one with the programmable timer.

Oh well.

I had chicken noodle soup for lunch today, but I got it in a dining hall so all I had to do was pay for it and ladle it into my bowl.

I just made chicken dumplings last Friday and we finished the leftovers a couple days ago, so I'll probably wait a little while before making chicken noodle soup. I do love it though. I put carrots, onions and spinach in it, and garlic and herbs... I use egg noodles usually, but I've found some recipes for really easy homemade noodles that I'd like to try out.

Kat - when you make from scratch chicken soup you need to add chicken bullion. You can still do this. Just boiling the chicken does not generate any chicken flavor. I make turkey soup at Thanksgiving and need to flavor it with chicken bullion.

Did you tell your wifey again that you made chicken yes chicken soup haha.

I always add chicken stock to my chicken soup, in other wise i find that there's not much flavour.

Boiling a whole chicken will give you chicken stock but you'd have to boil it for far longer then you would when you just cook the chicken. It would be best to boil the chicken, then remove the meat and then boil the bones for a few hours(3-4hrs) with celery, carrots, onions and garlic. Thats how I make the stock for my chicken and turkey soups and it always turns out great. Sometimes if its a little weak I may add a bit of bouillon powder, but usually it work without it.

I did, haha!

Only thing, I made it, and it looked and tasted EXACTLY like Progresso's Chicken Noodle Soup, except no celery.

I was SO MAD. That stuff is GROSS.
