I have a three month old Netherland Dwarf. I am concerned because he isn't chewing. He is eating just fine. We give him pellets and timothy hay and there aren't any problems with that. I have also checked him for dental malocclusion, but his teeth look fine.
Right now he has a small block of untreated lumber, a pine cone, a paper towel roll, and some of those little colored blocks of wood from the pet store. He doesn't chew on anything and I'm worried that his teeth will get too long and he will start having difficulty eating.
He has a large cage with a solid floor he and spends about two hours a day loose in the house.
Am I right to be concerned? He is very young and perhaps he doesn't really need to be chewing on stuff yet?
However, if I should be concerned, how can I get him to chew on his toys?
