Chewing cardboard boxes?

Since I have got my rabbit I have noticed he loves to chew, he isn't that fussed on two chew toys I bought him but instead he loves to be given any old cardboard boxes. How come rabbits like this so much? Is it beneficial for their teeth to be chewing cardboard?

All of ours have a love affair with cardboard boxes. I periodically make them mazes with boxes. Just guess they like chewing it. We also fill litter boxes with shredded newspaper and put them inside boxes--hours of fun and entertainment for them. The ones you will want to avoid are those with photo quality pics--it's a plastic applique rather than soy ink. Ted would take a virgin cardboard box and in ten minutes have a hole big enough for him to get thru. He also loved the plain brown grocery bags.

Aren't bunnies funny? Mine seem to ignore paper bags but Olive in particular loves to hop in (appropriately-sized) boxes, and has a blast doing "redecorating/home construction" projects on cardboard boxes I give her. The larger, the better. I gave her one roughly the size of a shoebox and she was very 'meh, mommy, this doesn't do it for me," about it. :whistling

I wish Q was into boxes. She tolerates her box (mainly because it often has treats hiding in the folds), but she's not a box chewer. Jealous of all the box-lovers out there.

Oh, Olive would probably have her converted within days, no... hours of meeting and clever scheming. Olive cannot refuse a good chompy, rippy nom-nom on a cardboard box, t'would be a disgrace to leave it all nice and tidy, don't you know? Meanwhile, Mummy is relegated to cleaning duty. :vacuum: or :sweep.
