OK now it has been years the last time I showed any rabbits. I kind of need a refresh on what to bring. We are going to the the FL state fair in Tampa. Windy will be 9mo old then and Goliath will be 7mo old. I need to know if anyone here has shown there how long is the show? Do I leave my bunnies there the whole time? Or is it just on the weekend?

Now what do I bring to the show? I only have the two but they are going to start our breeding program. I just need a check list of some sort so I can get them. I do feed them manna pro rabbit feed and I was told to get some calf manna as a supplement to help with them growing. I also give them a little flax seed. I want to give them the bast chace on the show table. The kids are going to be showing them. What kind of shampoo do you use? I would love to get all windy white parts gleaming white. Can I use the blue shampoo for white horses? It worked so good on my paint.

Any other helpful hints would be wonderful. Oh and we just signed up with ARBA the kids and I.

You will have to find out the show rules (length of show and how long to leave them there) from the Show Secretary or Rabbit Superintendent.

I generally do not suggest shampooing a rabbit... you can use a "No Rinse" cat shampoo if necessary to spot clean the white areas. But you can also use baking soda and water in a paste, apply, let dry and brush out. Or you can use vinegar to try and remove the yellow staining. Clip all nails at least two days before the show.

For the show, bring a brush and a terry cloth washcloth. I like to damped (not wet) the cloth and stroke the fur once with it to make it lay nice. If you bring nail clippers, make sure you have blood stop. Bring bottles of water from home. Bring whatever food and hay they usually eat (especially if they are staying overnight.)

Have a really good time and welcome to the wonderful world of Rabbit shows!

well heres my checklist :)

grooming table, brushes, pedigree's, extra food( for the rabbits and for you), chairs ( you absolutly need these!), extra carring cages incase you absolutley need a new bunny, money, a tarp to go underneath, and something to do while your waiting :biggrin2:

and good luck at the show :)

$75 is about average for a grooming table. You can sometimes pick them up used for a lot less. Do you really need one? I use a carpet remanant on top of the carriers for grooming. Folds up and fits in my grooming box.

LOL! Extra cages always come in handy! And yeah, I usually have an extra carrier at a show incase we see something we just can't live wthout. I bought a very small, collapsable dog crate (12"x18"), that folds to 2" high. Lays nice and flat if I don't need it, but I can set it up in about a minute, if I need it. (Got that at a Garage/Tag sale for $5.00!)

We use our grooming table to stack stuff on LOL

I have a small cart with a carpet on it that I can push down the aisle. We use it when feeding as well as for posing rabbits. I piced it up for $7 at a garage sale. TV trays with a piece of carpet also work well and are easy to fold up and store.

Well then I will just do the carpet thing anything to save money. Now that I know the bunny have to stay there from the 4-8th for the junior show then 10-13th for the open show.

Ok, this is usually my list before we go:

RABBITS!! (LOL! You don't know how many times I've forgotten one)
Extra carrier
Pellets/Hay
Small Crocks
Water Bottles
Gallon jugs of Water
Pedigree/Record Binders
Standard of Perfection
Laptop (if you keep records there)
carpet & table or show table
Brushes
Nail Clippers
Tattoo pen
People FOOD!
Lawn Chairs
Pens, Pencils, Paper
Business cards, if any
Dry erase board if you have rabbits for sale
Extra set of clothes (you know, when you're grooming and that stinking little buck does his thing all over you)
DIRECTIONS! (both ways- to and back)

Wow thank you I am going to write this down and put it in my bunny folder. I am sending the entry form in this week and going to add to it I know with the new bunnies coming. I am going to bring my com with me to take pics. :)
