Alright, so every year I have a birthday party around Halloween (my birthday is actually in December but I like seeing people dressed up in costume :biggrin and this year I'm turning 18, so it's gonna be a big deal. I'm thinking of making it into a charity event and getting donations for the shelter I volunteer at. This is pretty early to be planning I guess, but I always start planning these parties way early, just so I get everything done.
The smaller idea:
Have it as I normally do, costumes, halloween-ey treats, all that jazz, but instead of taking presents, I would have people bring in dog toys/beds/monetary donations and give it all to the shelter. This option is more realistic, but not as exciting, and I would like a pretty big party for my 18th birthday.
The HUGE idea (not sure if this is realistic):
I would make it like a "carnival," I could have some friends help me set up/run games and people can buy tickets to win small prizes (like candy, vampire fangs, etc.) and I would donate the money from the tickets to the shelter. This option would take a lot more work from a lot more people, but I think my extended family would be glad to help, and it would attract more people, and also be like way super fun. We have a Frisbee park right next to our house, I know they have a car show there every fourth of July but I don't know how I would go about getting permission to use it, or if I would need to.
So you guys are a creative and animal-loving group, any thoughts? Ideas? Opinions? "That would never work, Ashtin"s? I would love some input!
