Today I went into the ER because I had a rash on my left arm that was spreading and burning and very hott. I get scratched by rabbits and cages all the time.
They told me that I got this cellulitis from my rabbits.. Its a serious infection. I had to get 2 shots in the hip and one in the arm.

I never heard of this before, but I suppose any wound can get infected. I guess this would be a good lesson in properly disinfecting any scratches or bites that we get from our rabbits.

Yes,, I didnt think about getting scratched by the cages, But she said its just like getting scratched by cats too. But cats are worse from infection.. But I got scratched on Friday and ended up with this infection today.. Now, I am going to get sleeves before this happens again.

I'm very guilty about not properly cleansing scratches. I'm just so used to getting them. Thanks for the great reminder. Betadine is very cheap and is a great disinfectant.

Good topic. My teen nephew was recently hospitalized for a very serious case of cellulitis - they believe the bacteria entered his arm through a bug bite.

You can get it from anything.. But my case is from the cage that I had to carry around because the sun kept moving and I had to keep moving the cage into the shade..
