I know alot of excess Cecotropes is bad and can indicate diet or health problems....but is it okay to have ANY excess at all? What's normal and what's not? I read something where owners shouldn't see them at all but i do see them fro Agnes......

So what is normal?

I dont know much about it, but i have heard that sometimes they dont eat them all if they are disturbed (too much noise, being chased, etc) or it could be a sign of overfeeding....dont know how true this is. Hopefully someone else can help

Yes, overfeeding/ a diet too rich (in carbs etc.) can cause excess cecals. Do they look normal other then being uneaten(Not globs like cowpies/toothpaste) ?

Also, Ripley always leaves cecals when he has certain extra veggies and stuff. At that point I cut out the extras in his diet.

Yes, They look very normal.

I see about one (clump) every few days. So once or twice a week on average....?

She eats about 1/3 cup to maybe a half a cup Pellets at most a day. She gets fresh veggies everyday (romaine, bok choy are staples, alternates are kale, parsley, raddichio lettuce)

And of course unlimited access to Timothy hay.

She is 5 months old.

I have NEVER seen them which is odd i guess since mine were orphaned and didn't learn a lot from mom. A good thing though as i have read they r pretty rank. I do wonder however if they are that bad how come buns don't have nasty breath?

Oh they are SOO gross. Really stinky! Like human poop kinda. Agnes is a licker, loves to lick my nose too, makes me think twice about letting her ;)

The only time I have ever saw them was when Hunny was a baby. She was just a few weeks old and we found her poor bottom covered in them. It had compressed and gotten in to her girly parts (that is when I knew she was a girl, I didn't try to sex them before that). We had to bathe her back end to get her cleaned up. She is the only bun out of the 11 we've had here that we've ever had that with and it was only twice and never happened again after she was 5 weeks old.
