Anybody know what's going on with this eye? Is it a cataract? I couldn't find it in the books anywhere.

Could be an injury, bacterial infection, abrasion from a defect in the eyelid, E. cuniculi parasite infection orany other number of causes.

Needs to be seen by the vet for proper diagnosis and treatment, or loss of the eye could result.

Is there any way to avoid a vet and treat it bymyself? This is a shelter rabbit and if they find out I'mafraid she will be put down. Are you sure it's not just acataract?

Lissa :

That really doesnt look like a cateractat all , that actually lookslike Pam said some sort ofinfection .

I have a rabbit with cateractsand they dont look like that , his look likea cloud in his eye ,I truely wouldnt try and treathis eyes unless you kow exactly what youare dealing with , A vet is the bestoption and solution .

One of her eyes is blue and one is brown.Aren't blue eyes prone to problems?

I happened to talk to a vet who treated thisbunny about a year ago. He said that it is encephalitozoonwhich can lead to glaucoma. He said that in order to find outif this substance is malignant or benign, he would need to remove theeye.

It does not look like a cataract, it would notappear as a spot. What exactly is the color? Anywatering of the eye? Discharge? if not probably not aninfection.

It could just be a pigment spot, has it always been there?

Lissa I hope this bunny gets sorted and doesnt need to have his eye out.

I have never seen a rabbit with a cateract, but my Ferret has one andhis eye is clouded too. Also I've seen them in cats the same.

Hope the little one will be ok whatever it is.
