I want to buy a good pet carrier that is nice and can be ordered from a trusted website or bought from a store near by my home in Lawrence, KS.

I could not find a decent one at wal-mart, tj maxx, target or the pet stores here in town. I am looking for one that is a girly color and does not look like a pet carrier but a cute bag. This is to take her to the vet and out to play in a non-treated grassy yard a few minutes from my home.

They're really expensive. At the pet store by me, a soft carrier runs about $75. I got her a small, hard carrier, but if you were set on a soft one, check ebay, or check craigslist. I found a few cutes ones in my area (mostly cat bags), but decided to go on something more practical instead of cute for now.

We have this one:

Small Animal Carrier

Our bunnies hate it (because they hate being picked up and carried around!) but it's sturdy and we like it. It's only about $20 (depending on the size you get). I wouldn't use it on long car trips, but for a quick trip to the vet it's just fine.

Personally, I prefer the harder carriers like the plastic cat ones, but we also travel a LOT and need something easy to clean and when we travel, we bring all the bunnies so the 12 carriers need to fit together. I really like the cat carriers because they also give the rabbit more room and they can stretch, lay down and move a bit.

If you want a cheaper soft carrier, I would actually look on Kijiji (Although I guess Craigslist is more popular down there, hey?) and generally you can pick them up for almost free. I recently got soft carrier for free off Kijiji.

Hey that is helpful and I do want a hard carrier but I just don't want one that looks like a little dog taxi (if you know what I mean, ha). I will take a look a dillions (a grocery store here in town) and see if they have one there, you never know... And yes, we do use craigslist alot here in Lawrence, KS (a college town, of KU). Much thanks to you all!

HI MERIDETH,

I'M TO LOOKING FOR A CARRIER AND WAS THINKING ABOUT THE SAME EXACT ONE THAT YOU HAVE , WOULD IT BE GOOD FOR A MIDDIUM SIZE BUNNY? THANKS
TERRIE

Hey Terrie,

The larger of our two buns is about 5 lbs. He fits well enough, although he can't lie down and fully stretch out. Usually when we're taking him in the car somewhere he doesn't want to stretch all the way out, so it's not a big deal. It's good for short car trips to the vet or around town, but I definitely would not use it on a longer car trip (45 min+). If your bunny is too much bigger than 5 lbs (I'm thinking like 7+ lbs), it would probably be too small.

Hope that helps :)
