Man, what a day...

At about 2pm today, my boyfriend (Ryan), were t-boned in an intersection today. We were turning left, waiting in the intersection until the light went yellow. We completed our turn, and the other guy excellerated to "beat" the yellow light and hit us in the passenger side.

I don't remember the crash at all. I was out for at least 10 minutes. The only thing I remember was about a block before the accident, and I started remembering again as we got to the hospital.

I've got a cut in front of my right ear that required stitches. And a cut on my scalp that I refused stitches on as I really hate them and no one is going to look at my scalp. Various other cuts and some bruises.

I'm sure I'll be hurting in the next couple days as bruises come to the surface and whiplash sets in.

Just thought I would let all my friends on RO know.

Aw man, I am sorry to hear about this :(. I am so happy that you are okay!

I had a pretty bad accident back in Feb. of '06. My knee still hurts when I try to sleep and turns purple in the shower.

ACK!!! :faint:

POOR DAWN & RYAN!
I just saw this, I was off getting bunny food. You should have called me! Not that I could have done much. Held your hand? :nurse:
I can take the bunnies here for the next little while,if that will help. How's Ryan?
Really hate to say it, butyou're likely to feel a LOT worse before you feel better. :imsick: After I was T-boned, I joked at the hospital that every bone in my body hurt EXCEPT my neck, so I couldn't even sue for whiplash. Ha ha. Three days later, I couldn't even hold my head up. (Now I know why they give you a neck brace). Then my back started going into spasms.
At least I did get a settlement -- after I took them to court.
I'm afraid to ask which vehicle you were driving. :( If it was Ryan's,you guyscan have my Bimmer as long as you need it.It should get dusted off before I sell it anyway. Justtransfer your insurance over. (Maybe the sun will even come out).
I just need to wing itgetting it out of the landlady's garage, the driveway has to be clear. The brakes will need looking at. I'm sure the battery's dead, it's been parked since the fall. I have a battery charger in the house, not sure how to hook it up, but I'm sure it can be explained.
Let me know!

sas :hug1

Oh no! Sounds pretty bad!
Here's hoping you get better soon without too much more pain~
I'll be keeping you in my thoughts! (And if you need any moral support, the forum's always here for you. Being in pain can make a lot of things worse than they already are, and you gotta have someone to tell about it, right? ;))

Oh no!:shock2:

Glad to hear that you had "minor" injuries. That happened to me once. I didn't want to go to the hospital...thought I felt fine...but the police at the scene convinced me to at least get checked out.

A few hours later, I understood why. Well, at least my legs had some color that summer...of course black/blue rather than tan.

Do take care of yourself. We are sending positive thoughts your way.

Glad you're okay.
How's Ryan?

I got rear-ended this weekend.....when I was going to get Buckley.
Not anywhere near as bad as what happened to you though.

Feel better!

It's day two, and so far I'm still feeling okay.

I had no choice about going to the hospital or not, I wasn't conscious... Ryan thought he'd killed me, and was absolutely freaking out trying to pull my door off (which wouldn't have happened as it was all crunched in). But I had just blacked out.

They had to pull me through the drivers side door and cut the center console out.

I still don't remember anything at all. About a block before the accident is the earliest I can remember and then I came to in the ambulance just as we arrived at the hospital.

So far no colourful bruises. My right hip hurts, so I'm not sure if it's going to bruise or not. My back and neck are okay still. My lower abdomen hurts where the seat belt was. I had some tiny pieces of glass in my eye, so it feels gritty still as I'm sure there are tiny little cuts in it.

Thanks for all the warm thoughts guys. The bunnies are doing okay. I can handle feeding and cleaning at the moment. Besides, I know who to call if I can't...

Yikes! So glad that you and Ryan weren't seriously hurt.

Best wishes for a fast recovery:clover:

WHAT!!!!!!!!

Oh Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear about this. And I wish I was closer soI could help....

Poor Ryan, he must've been so worried.

Zeke can clean your wounds and Baxter can snuggle with you on the couch.

So sorry you got hurt. Hopefully you can get treatment right away.

Car accidents are bad. Last week when my son was driving from Vancouver to Edmonton, he hit a deer on the hiway. Lucky no one was hurt and the deer limped into the woods.

Rainbows! :hug1

Holy Crap!! I just saw this, I am SO glad you guys are OK Dawn! Ryan showed me pics of the car and wow - I am so happy you got out of there with only minor injuries. More than I can say for Ryan's pretty new car. :( :(

The after pictures where taken with a cell phone camera, but they still show the damage well. We may go back and take more pictures with a proper camera.

Needless to say, it's pretty amazing I only got a few small cuts.

Oh my goodness!!! I am so glad you were not injured more than you were. It is scary looking at the damage to the car!! Take care of yourself and rest when you need to. Beckie , Trouble and Trixie

Hi Dawn, how you feeling? Wow those pictures are something, how fast was the guy going that hit you? With that amount of damage I'd say pretty fast. Hope you are starting to feel better. Get yourself a good lawyer too.

Susan:bunnydance:

I don't know how fast the truck that hit us was going, but I can guess at about 60-70 km/h. We weren't going very fast ourselves, we had been stopped waiting to turn left a moment before.

We have a lawyer lined up that we will most likely talk with next week before we speak to ICBC. ICBC has tried to get a hold of us, so we'll have to get a statement together pretty quickly.

I went to the doctors yesterday, and it looks like I could be experiencing head aches for about a month. Which is no uncommon for a concussion. If they last longer than a month, I'll have to go back to the doctors so hopefully they'll go away quickly.

Ryan and I are looking into getting a new car soon. We are looking at getting a VW Golf, preferably a 1.8T or a TDI. We've applied to the bank for a line of credit and we should hear back today. I'm hoping we get it because we'll be able to get a new car quickly.
