I got home very late last Sunday night, trying to fall asleep at about 4am. I then heard a human-sounding whistle in my room which kind of creeped me out, lasted for probably 2-3 seconds. I turned my light on soon after... my bunny was looking at me from the cage like "why'd you turn the light on?" with his head cocked. I have found only one website that makes any mention of a rabbit being able to whistle, and it says it happens when they're in distress, but I know he was just fine.

Any ideas? Or should I worry about my room being haunted? LOL

Maybe your rabbit was 'distressed'. This happened to my rabbit before because I usually leave the side-light on for him to see around and one night i turned it off.

Your bun was probably scared, and wanted you! Im not sure, maybe other people would help you out too.

Bye x x

Hmm... is it a good idea to have some dim light on near the cage overnight? I never really knew if buns sleep through most of the night if the room is dark, or if they'd rather have the option of a little lighting? I don't wanna mess up his sleep cycle!

Besides distress, a number of types of stimuli can cause squealing. We've had himilayans that would squeal when I ran water in the barn or when I poured feed into the bin. They were perfectly calm, but the noise seemed to trigger the behavior.
