Rabbit teeth are different than ours. They are always growing(replacing themselves), which makes it unlikely for them to develop the kind of problems that we do, and which is why they can develop sharp points if not worn down properly by the food they eat. They can get infections that can affect the teeth though.

A rabbits teeth and diet tend to rule out cavities and some other things that people tend to get. With their teeth always growing, it is like having brand new teeth every few months. A diet low in sugar makes is harder to bacteria to grow that would cause problems.

There are other issues with teeth that are always growing. Over grown teeth are a big issue. The open root can grow into the eye.

Basically, rabbits don't generally get the dental problems we get, but they have their own issues to deal with.

Oh yeah that makes perfect sense with their constantly growing teeth. I feel a bit silly now for asking, thank you all for the responses:)

Hypothetically they could, but yeah with their constantly growing tooth style it's not one of the big things we worry about.

No, there's never any harm in asking anything. We never learn if we don't ask.

Was there something going on with your bun that made you ask?

Vanessa

Oh no, not at all. I ponder a lot about rabbits now and it was more of a curiosity than anything:)
Everytime Sophie yawns I admire her pearly white teeth and everything looks great!
