Can neutered doe's be used for showing?

i dont know.. i have a peddigree male and female, i would like 2 show them.... but they are going to be neutered/sprayed

I wouldn't think so, because isn't the purpose of showing to get the best traits in a breed? The bun with the best confirmation (best example of the breed) would be wanted for breeding, to pass their genes on. That's how it is for dogs. Neutered/spayed dogs are only allowed in agility (that is what I was told).

I know they are supposed to be intact, but really, if a bunny has regrown all it's fur from a spay, no one would know, so this is also something I have wondered myself.

Thats what I was thinking. My mum said (I guess I gotta have faith!) that we will get CJ neutered after xmas so hopefully I will be able to get him a friend but wanted one I could show and it would probably have to be female but don't really want to have an un-neutered female. And to be honest don't want to breed at this moment in time (but hopefully in the future) so whether or not she could be bred dosent really bother me.

No they can't atleast not in the USA. I think Pam once said it would be a matter of ethics if someone did try to show them anyways. If you were caught you wouldn't get anything you paid to enter back.

There's a girl who shows at my fair who has her bucks neutered, and she can't show them anymore. The judge couldn't tell that they were boys ;)

Girls would be different though. You possibly would be able to show them (only in 4-H shows/pet classes though, unless they were purebred) since you can still tell they're a girl.

But, since you're in the UK, it might be different. You'd have to ask around and see what you find.

My local rabbit breeders club actually had a discussion on this not too long ago... While it's against the rules, you could technically show a spayed doe, since no one would ever know. Personally, I'd be pretty PO'ed if one of my rabbits was beat out by a spayed/neutered rabbit; I take that as seriously as plucking hairs or painting white nails.

Personally, I would not house a pet rabbit with a show rabbit. The doe could pick up something at strange at a show and pass it on to the buck; my show rabbits have managed to pass on fur mites to the house buns before, and they don't even come in contact with each other. Just something to think about.

Yup, it's not allowed except in 4H and pet classes. The judge can't always tell if the girl has been spayed, but there is a chance they will palpatate to feel for a uterus and you'd get in big trouble, plus it's just not ethical.

Ugh, I never though about this :? Guess I'll be waiting a lot longer for a show doe then.
Thanks for the replies all.
