Hi Varna.

You are feeding Lucy on a great diet there. It doesn't sound to me thatyou need to change it. Some bunnies don't like a lot of fresh foodanyway.

If you want to try her on anything new then just give her a tiny tasteat first to see if she likes it and if she does then add that to herfresh food list.

Do you give her fresh food everyday?

I can't get Snowy to have anything fresh. He is so fussy. The others love fresh food though.

If she seems to be okay, Varna, then I wouldn'tworry too much. I think Vickie's advice is spot-on.Just make sure she has her normal poops and behavior. As theysay, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

hi vickie

i dont give her fresh food every day

do you think i should

its just im frightened incase she gets the runs its just i no that can harm a rabbit

she does'nt get any so called treats as i think most of them are eitherincased with sugar so if she gets a treat its normally her veg

are there any perticular times would would give their veggies as i dontwant her filling up on her veggies and not eating her pellets as shewill not go in her cage

Varna,

I really don't think you should worry about you're not doing thingsright. You're right to be mindful of the sugar content, andas long as your little girl is acting well, and her poops are fine, I'dcontinue with the diet she's on.

There's an old saying, "Don't trouble Trouble 'til Trouble troubles you." :)

Trust in yourself, you know what you're doing. You're a greatparent to Lucy and it seems as if she has an absolutely lovely andhealthy life in your home. :)

No worries, Dear Heart.

Well Varna I don't give mine fresh food everydaybut some people do. As long as she is getting her pellets, hay andwater like she is doing then you are doing a great job.

I am very, very mean when it comes to treats. Mine hardly get them onlythe occasional yoghurt drop about every month lol. Fresh food is greatas treats as like you said they are low in sugar. I give mine freshfood about once a week.

Like Carolyn said just keep an eye on her poops. If you are worriedabout giving her too much fruit and veg then leave her as she is. I amsure she is happy anyway.

Hi Varna!

Sounds like a good diet to me!!

I only have problems with certain fruits. Some of my buns get softpoops if we give them too much banana. They mostly get raisins andcraisins for fruit treats.

The only other veggie I give them that is different from yours, wouldbe romaine lettuce. Every once in a while I'll add a small ammount ofsomething new like: basil, dandelion greens, escarole, carrot tops.

I also give my buns oats. Maybe a teaspoon every day or two.

love the new aviator king j hehe

are the oats not to fattening and do they serve any purpose

not being funny sayingthat love varnaxxxx
Thanks about the avatar...at least I have a sense of humor :D

The oats are fattening, so I make sure I limit them. The buns love them.

They help with soft poops, too.

I usually alternate days with oats and treats. I consider oats to be treats.

Hard poops are just that and they are quite a lotsmaller then the regular ones. I have found them very dry looking too. They aren't very squishable.Soft ones are black and you cansee a small amount of moisture in them. I think thats right anyway.

It is confusing and quite worrying too. Theyshouldn't be very sloppy, soft but firm. Hard ones aren't a good sign,I don't think. I think as long as she is eating anddrinkingwell with no other complaints it is ok.

Speaking of poops. One of Daisy's has had me a little worried today. Its huge and like a mini cat poo. I have kept it (I sound daft nowdon't I) and I might take a picture of it and post as it looks like itsbeen doneby another animal. ALl her others have been okthough. So I might just keep an eye on her as she is eating anddrinking well.

Poopology 101

5 out of 6 of our buns routinely have small to medium size poops that are hard to medium hard.

I only get concerned if the volume is substantialreduced or if they are extremely soft. In these cases I limit the bunfor 2-3 days to hay, water, and pellets only. I constantly monitor themover that period in case there are any changes. After a couple of daysour buns have returned to normal poops.

Chippy is the only one that has to be different. When we firstgot her, her poops look like coarse balls of timothy hay, and werelarger that any poops I had ever seen. She then developed very softpoops. After a while her system became more normal when she hadadjusted to her new diet. However, her poops are still larger than anyof the other buns, and she is the smallest bun of the 6. Sometimes herpoops are so big that they won't fall through the wire bottom of hercage.

Varna, Bo is picky also. He doesn't like dill or mint oranything like that. He will eat a bit of strawberry butprefers a little slice of banana or apple or dried papaya (which isreally good for them when they are molting).

For fresh greens he generally gets romaine and cilantro(coriander). If he gets tired of one of those I'll use kaleor parsley, carrot topsor another lettuce that he canhave.

I have used a couple of fresh spinach leaves also but they are high incalcium. So, I don't worry much about changingstuff.

I don't know if you have it over there or not, but here in the organicfood sections of our stores, we get this little thing of petgrass. I will sit that in front of him and let him nibble fora bit and he likes that.

I am nervous about trying new things also. I figure themilder the better. No more green pepper or brussel sprouts oranything that's gassy ..... I get too nervous :(

If you have something like carrots and want to try a little tiny sprigof the tops with her.... fine..... if you don't.. don't worry aboutit. A lot of people don't even feed them greens!

Oh and I feed Bo fresh greens daily cause he'salways had harder poos so it's good for him I think...... Every bunnyis different ....

Hi

I don't really have any advice to offer- as I am a new bunny owner...

I just wanted to say I love your bun's name...it's my daughter's name too....:)

Sorry I didn't have anything more to offer than that...
