If you don't mind, I'm going to move this to a forum where more people are likely to see it and be able to answer your questions. :)

I just want to bump this up, as I'm sure there are tons of people who would be able to give you good advice :)

Oooo lucky you...be sure to post lots of pictures when you get him/her..:)

hi there..im new to this site too and ive had my 2 femmie giants for a couple of months now.they are 6-7 months old and are AWESOME!!..sometimes when i look at them i think "that CANT be a bunny " my female (Ms. Perty)is 13 lbs and my male (Sherman "as in tank") is 11 lbs now..BIG BIG bunnies that are kinda tricky to pick up cuz they are all muscle .. .i dont really know what kind of advice to give you on them ..except they eat ALOT..:)...i have 9 buns altogether but my giants eat an insane amount of pellets and hay...the hay i dont mind cuz i buy a bale at a time...i cant wait to see pics and hear all about ur giant!!..have u ever had a bun before??..

Bigger the better in everything. Litter box, toys, etc.

I have a flemish who lives in my hall...

How old will your flemish be when you get him/her? I have several and they are wonderful rabbits. Make sure the bun has plenty of toys, only a few at a time so it doesn't get bored.

What kind of questions do you have? Let me know and I would love to help you.

oh thank you every one for the nice posts!~ i was set to get my little bunny ( 8 weeks or so now) this last sat but one of his bothers got a little sick so the lovely breeder i am buying from is keeping him for an extra week to make sure he is healthy. i have to admit i was a bit sad but as long as my new baby comes home safe and sound ill be happy.

well i had a bunny when i was little but my mother kept it out side most of the time ( he was a mini rex named Bunnie foo foo) but my sister and i would sneak him inside and feed him veggies and play games with him. i was wondering what toys to get, in the bun mags i only hear about how they need toys but not what kind. right now i have a few chew toys made for bun buns of course. like little logs and wood toys.a cat toy with the bells inside.... a straw mat.thats it so far. please fell free to give me some tips on how to keep him happy. i named him Mayhem cause it sounds like a good oxymoron due to the gentle nature of the flemish.
I just cant wait to bring him home, so cross your fingers and wish me good luck for next sat.! ( he is a blue or a black btw)

The best toys really are the home made ones...my bunnies love their cardboard boxes with an entry cut out of it..i love how the buns get stuck into it and renovate it to their liking...they even make their own little exit lol...toilet paper rolls are good..you can stuff them with hay...paper bags which can be stuffed with hay also, paper towel rolls..phone books which they rip to shreds..just rip the front cover off before you give it to your bunny

My buns also like to play with those little cat balls..umm little untreated wicker balls...bird toys are good...untreated wicker baskets.

Oh and my buns love playing with spoons..i have often left a spoon in the loungeroom from eating ice cream or something...the buns will find it and grab it from the bowl and they will throw it around...they love the noise it makes when it hits the floor...silly bunnies.

Well good luck on getting your bunny next Saturday.

thats awesome that they wanna keep the bun a little longer to make sure hes healthy...very kewl....for toys ive tried all kinds of things and keep in mind what they wont play with today they WILL play with tomorrow...they are weird..so dont get frustrated if ur bun wont play with something right away....my buns LOVE LOVE LOVE their tunnels that ive made them..thats ALWAYS their fav toy ..i am a graphics installer on automotibles and i use large rolls of vinyl for my jobs well the boxes that the vinyl comes in are perfect for them to run thru....also when u go to a hardware store in ur area keep an eye out for boxes there and ask them for em..they seem to carry the best sized and shaped boxes ...just experiment and have fun with it...ull figure out what Mayhem likes...(cute name by the way) i cant wait to see him...

hello all,
i got a pic of my baby, i put it up as my photo. he is soo amazing!
i have another question about the buck (male) flemish. The breeder i am getting him from said that i should get a male because i wont have to get him neutered... but everything i have read says that you still should... so im confused. should i or shouldn't i get him snipped? and if so what age is good, i dont want to do it too soon and have his growth stunted and i dont want him to start "spraying". now about that, i was under the impression that the males wont spray if there is no other bunnies around, but i cant get a defined answer on that either.
thank you all so much for the help. this is the only site that i have gotten and real answers from! ill get more pics asap..

Even a solo bunny can spray. :DFor males they say when the balls drop you can. For the rescue I follow that patern. For my own I wait till 6mnths. A good recent thread has some great comments...

Do I neuter my bunny?

:)We try. Can't wait for your flemmie to get to you. I adore flemmies.

:( R.I.P. blue mayhem....... he passed away from weaning enteritis yesterday. so please say a little prayer for him and that the other black pick will be ok!!!! and we are taking suggestions for a new name for the black buck.... im so sad....

Sorry things didn't work out. How many Flemish did the breeder have? I had a black foster (not a Flemish) that I called Midnight that was adopted a few weeks ago.

Binky Free Mayhem. :pink iris:

aww that sound great! we are getting a little black buck that seems to be healthy so far. we will no for sure on sat. i hope sooooo much that he is ok, even if my little mayhem is gone at least i can give his brother the same loving caring home!

hooray!!it looks like our little black buck is good to go! we will be "boris" tomorrow, and i just can't wait! wish me luck, hopefully my next post will have a nice photo of him in it!

I am so excited for you. Make sure you can get pellets and hay from the breeder, so your rabbit will have the same food that he is eating now.
