californian rex and himalayan rex

hi, i was just wondering if you could tell me thedifference between a californian rex and a himalayan rex as i have ahimalayan and i was just looking at a picture of a californian and theylook very similar! Thanks, Leanne

The proper term for that variety in the Rex breedis "Californian" (black points). The term for thatsamevariety in the Mini Rex is "Himalayan" (black or bluepoints).

Opps -- just realized that you are from theUK. I believe the term "Himalayan" is used for both Rex andMini Rex in the UK.

Are all Himmies/Californians in the rex breed?

or are there Himmies and Californians as a breed and then there are those colors in the rex breed?

The Californian breed is a commercial mediumsized breed. The term can also refer to a variety (color) inother breeds.

Correct. Lilac, Tan, Silver, Sableand Harlequin are also breeds as well as varieties.
