I was in DC when it happened, but all my family and friends and such are just fine.

Not nearly as bad as the '94 Northridge 'quake was in this area.

I was only four then and slept through it, but I distinctly remember that the ice cream had been tossed from the freezer.

I lived in Newport Beach when the '94 quake happened, but I was down in Cancun vacationing at the time. I remember getting up in the morning, turning on the news and seeingthe reports.

It is weird because I live in the valley, not far from Northridge, but I went to high school "over the hill" and a lot of my classmates when we'd talk about it, hadn't had any damage and didn't seem to realize that it was a big deal whereas we had quite a bit of structural damage to our own home and I know of a number of buildings that fell down and such.

I am happy to hear everyone is ok..... I was thinking and worrying about you all!

On a slightly crazy note:

I saw the title to this thread and thought to myself "Californian Earthquake: Zin's bunnies all binky at one time!"..... ;)

LOL Bo! That was it! :p

We had just a small amount of shaking here, it actually took me a good 10 seconds to realize it was an earthquake and move to the doorway. My dog started barking, and thecatswere ready to pounce on whatever was causing the shaking. Didn't seem to phase the buns at all. They both slept rightthrough it.

My husband was working in the home of an elderly woman 5 miles from the epicenter. She has a very cluttered home and many things were knocked askew. No major damage though. I believe the only thing broken was a tv set that fell off an entertainment center.

Hope everyone on RO who might have been affected by this is ok .

This made me laugh: "Scared the BF, but the cat and bun were yawning after it happened - lol.."
If animals are meant to sense danger, maybe it relates to total crisis conditions only? :)

Jo xx

They had to shut down all the rides for a good 2 hours so they can check and make sure theyre safe. some didnt even open again. dang indiana jones ride. lol. But everyone in cali is fine.
