Just bought this cage for $20, it might not be the greatest, and it was made for birds. It needs to be cleaned too, but I want my buns to have some outside time too. Any suggestions? How can I put another level or two inside? Is the wire on the bottom going to need to be covered? Thanks in advanced!

How wide is the cage? Rabbits are more of a horizontal critter, while birds more vertical. If the wire on the bottom is only 1/2"x1/2", then it would be okay (with resting mats).

I would honestly turn it on its side. You might need to improvise some sort of step so It's not a drop down from the door to the floor, but that way they'll both be able to move around more since the tall space can become hopping space. I'd also cover the wire with either blankets or some sort of flooring that would be okay if it got wet outside.

I was thinking if the same. It looks like it would be very possible to turn on the side and then that could work much better for you. :)

Actually, birds are horizontal too. Wish we could get that through the cage maker's heads...:rollseyes

Good luck with your new outdoor cage! I am sure they will enjoy some time outside.
