My bunny had a broken leg (cause unknown) and we had called ahead to a
vet who said we need to take him in to determine whether surgery needs
to be done. We brought him in, and the vet took an x-ray then told us he
does not perform surgery on rabbits and that we need to take him to a
different vet to get the operation done. I left that vet paying $236 for
the exam and x-ray. The vet we were recommended to was an hour away,
but we willingly drove and dropped off our rabbit. Total expenses at
that vet for the surgery was $1,352. I paid in full before the surgery.
Next thing we know, we get a call from the vet with people laughing in
the background and the doctor saying "Uh I have bad news." Our two year
old bunny passed away during surgery. They are only refunding $900, and
we need to either pick up the bunny (which will not be in good shape) or
get him "group cremated" for $42 or have him cremated and have the
ashes sent to us for $250. It really sucks knowing your bunny was in
pain, then having to pay $1500 total for his surgery but looking forward
to his recovery, then getting a really insensitive phone call from the
vet saying the bunny passed away during surgery and still having to pay
over $600 in expenses, including having to pay to have him "group
cremated" because it will be too heartbreaking for me to see him and
take him back home. RIP Bunnymeow. If you'd like to donate to his vet bill, please go to gofundme.com/bunnymeow. Thank you for your support.
