Does anyone have experience with a bunny having a detached lens? No one can diagnose my bunny’s eye. The most recent dr has 20+ years of experience and did a pressure test showing no glaucoma. Came back: 15,15,13 troubled eye and 18,18,18 normal eye. She said it almost looked like the lense had a cataract on it and then it fell on its side. She mentioned surgery and suggested a place out of state. I called and they said it’s 1500-2200 to remove a rabbits eye. . I am so upset. I don’t want her eye removed. She doesn’t do well and would need to be in the car over 2 hours each way. I’m stressed. Please help with any info you have about this or resources! I am so stressed. She’s hiding now and so mad at me For bringing her.

Is the eye bothering your rabbit, or is there any particular reason the vet is suggesting eye removal surgery? Is the vet a very knowledgeable rabbit vet?

Could you post a clear close up photo of the eye?

I will try to take good photos of her eye tomorrow. The vet immediately started with saying, she doesn’t need a normal eye, she needs a comfortable eye. Then after taking a bunch of photos with the light and then doing the pressure test, she started to talk about removal without saying it. I told her about the appt I had for the ophthalmologist in October and that I also thought the lens looked like it had fallen, and that the only two other photos that looked like it were white deposits in the eye from EC and tumors. But those two photos still didn’t look like this. It truly looks more like a lens on its side.

She started to refer me to a vet out of state and said they were probably cheaper than the opthamologist. I called them and they can see her sooner, but it’s 4 1/2 hours round trip and Peaches was not okay after a half hour each way. I’m angry bc this vet didn’t check her ears or teeth, just said that the NH vet could do that And rule out those issues. I feel like once she got a good look she was like yeah this eye is done for and there’s nothing I can do.

She recommended the eye drops and terramyacin as needed as well as the anti inflammatory med. I then told the tech that she needed an rx for the anti infla pain med, and then it was a huge issue. She initially said to contact her original vet for that. I was so mad at that point. Like what is the point of going there? She didn’t want to do anything or even fully check her. The test she did with the numbing drops I could have been charged 30-50 easily for. And the visit was supposed to be 70. Luckily i was charged 60 for the whole thing. I still didn’t feel okay about it. I was looking for a second opinion. I was told she was very knowledgeable and confident she could diagnose or treat any bunny issues. I specifically asked about eye issues. I knew this is extremely wrong. Both vets now I’ve had a bad experience with. They’re not helpful and they want to charge ridiculous prices for meds and basically nothing. At lest the other vet was thorough. I just didn’t get a positive interaction when I called freaking out and felt like they didn’t care about my bunny. He was mad I didn’t bring her back immediately within a week but they didn’t schedule it before I left and he wasn’t acting knowledgeable or giving me any sort of prognosis, just kept saying he wanted to see her again instead of saying, this will be three or four recheck. It’s a lot for her. And it’s super traumatizing for her. I just want to stop ducking with her eye and let her live. I don’t have a diagnosis thoguh or enough information about dislocated lens With cataract. I can’t find any photos online that look like her eye. It looks simulta better than everything online and also worse

scroll to e. C. And look at the photo on the right. It’s labeled:

Phacoclastic uveitis, rabbit

this is probably the closest to her eye but it still looks different than that. Which is why I want to treat her fully for e. Coniculi and I’m angry no one is helping me to do that. I’m so tired of her seeing people who don’t know what it is. I feel like she’s not being given a proper chance to heal bc she’s not being prescribed anything. I don’t wanna pay a million dollars for useless visits. I want the right medicine and i want enough of it to treat her for a continuous time.

she was only prescribed 10 days of febenasole. I gave her like 14 days bc they gave extra. I tried to give 6 days to my other bunny in the hopes they wouldn’t pass it back and forth. found out later that it’s supposed to be 28 days of treatment. I’m so angry. I’m mad I can’t fix it. I’m mad she’s had to go through this. I’m mad I’ve spent so much money with no complete resolution. im mad she was red treated fully. I’m mad she want given pain meds continuously. I’m mad 😡 I’ve been crying so much. She deserves better than this and I can’t afford it. I don’t want her eye removed.

If this is the same rabbit with the conjunctivitis and the bulging eye, it's more likely to be a corneal ulcer causing the cloudiness in the eye. Did your vet do a dye test on the eye to rule that out?

Medirabbit: corneal abrasion and ulcer

Do you have photos you can post yet?
