I have a Flemish giant, since we moved into a new apartment, she has to stay in the garage. There's just not enough space for a cage in the house. And we have hardwood floors, when I brought her in here she absolutely hated it. So now she gets to stay out in the garage (more like a barn) in an exercise pen. She loves that she has a bigger space now. We still spend tons of time with her out in the yard and manage to still get our cuddles in. :) I'm a stay at home mom, so I'm always home. Its definitely hard for me to not constantly be looking at her all day but she's happy. She has a fan and some Christmas lights in the garage with her. The fan helps keep flies out and obviously keeps her nice and cool. BUT this morning when my husband got home from work I asked him to go feed the rabbit and make sure her fan is on. He wakes me back up and asks me if I took the fan and put it somewhere else... no.. her fan is GONE. I'm so upset. We have a very private, high fenced back yard that nobody can see into the garage, more like a little barn, is set way back into our yard. So its not even seen from the street. The only people who can see it would be our upstairs neighbors. Whom are complete scumbags. The cops have been here 3 times in two weeks just looking for the lady. So who knows what they would do. The yard is our private yard. Not shared with the upstairs neighbors. They either broke in the locked gate while my husband was at work, or climbed it, (like he has once before, and kicked down a boarded up door that leads to his apartment) which the landlord never boarded back up so its still not fully attached, but still not supposed to be used by him. Anyway, we are assuming its them. Since they don't give a **** what anybody thinks of them or what they do. I'm beyond annoyed about the whole situation. Yes, its only a box fan, but its ours, we spent out of our budget to get it specifically for my rabbit, Grizelda, when we didn't have the extra money at that moment, but my husband knows how much she means to me and he is also an animal lover. My main thing is that they(someone) stole a rabbits fan. Its not like she can go make the money to buy herself a new one or hop into a different room to cool off if she needed to. She's like a child to me. All of my animals are. You don't mess with my family. We emailed the landlord, he told him he needs to have a meeting with him on Tuesday. Today is Thursday. So this guy has plenty of time to hide it or do whatever with it. I gave the fan all day to magically reappear, plugged back in, in my garage. Its still not here. The more I sit around and think about it the more I want to call the cops to report it. We bought it like a month ago and still have the box. They are always looking for that lady anyway,I'm sure it will lead to them finding her finally. I would really hate to waste the cops time, but I feel like if they get away with this and we just go replace the fan, they'll think we're idiots and keep going in our yard to steal our things.
Why don't rabbits bark? Or attack? Haha. Anyway, that was my rant. I just feel bad and I'm aggravated about what to do.

Was the fan IN the garage, like WITH your rabbit? Like the person could have gotten to your rabbit? I would be flipping terrified to leave my rabbit somewhere where someone piece of crap could get to her!

I would go to the police department and make a formal complaint that they stole your fan. Like, don't call 911 or anything. But just going to the station and making a complaint against them is nice to have on the records in case anything else were to happen.

Can you lock the garage better? Or petition to have them evicted? (Actually, I have no idea if you can do that, but you could find out!)

I'm sorry that someone stole her fan. That really sucks.

And my rabbit will sometimes attack, she bites ankles. :)

Yes, the fan is right in the garage, like 2 ft away from her pen. Currently there aren't doors on the garage. We plan on building some though before it gets cold out. Since the yard is surrounded by all high fencing, and that scum never showed interest in stealing our things (until now), we didn't think we'd need doors asap.
But since this happened today I'm terrified about having her out there with no doors or locks. She's pretty big, so if he's some crazy hungry person, id be worried he'd steal her for food or something. Or even if he's just some Sicko who hates animals.

When the guy originally broke into our yard to kick down "his" door, the landlord was pissed and was going to just evict him. We said no, just tell him to chill out and stay off our property. Today when we emailed him, he said when he has the meeting with him, he's going to determine whether or not he's going to be aloud to live here anymore.
So we're hoping he gets out of here. Peacefully, though.
Its so annoying that last night I had this feeling to let the dog in the yard because something made me uncomfortable. Now I'm wondering if this was why, and I wish I would of let the dog out! Haha.
We will definitely look into going to the police station tomorrow to file a complaint.
