she is starting to get a dewlap:shock:

many thanks

Erin

What kind of treats are you feeding her,Erin? Is she on alfalfa? Does she get plenty ofexcerise?

P.S. Glad you are back!! You have a beautiful bun!

thanks!! she does ..she runs aroundthe house all day and night hahaha and she is only givin timothy hay..igive her lil treats like bunny brownies ...with oats and hayin them ...she loves them so much :(

OK. I know oats are ratherfattening. Maybe cutting back on that might help. What are bunny brownies? Is that that recipe that calls forpellets, carrots, banana, honey...?

What about making an obstacale course for her. While she is out of her cage, maybe she can do some boot-camptraining...?:p Maybe some boxes to hopover and climb on top of. Some tubes to run through...Iunderstand she does get excerise, but maybe some interactive playtimemight motivate her to workout more...? A paperbag to playhide-and-seek in?? ...I could go on and on ;)

What do you think? How many bunny brownies a day do you give her?

Just cut down on the treats gradually.Give them to her when she's a good girl. My babies get treatswhen they behave well and when they go back into their cages for thenight. She's getting older, so a dewlap is ok.Daisy and Basil are getting them too. Abby and Lily havethem. Abby's is huge.

i give them to her every day ...she looksforward to it...i know i should make a lil course for her...i want tomake a condo ...where can i get the stuff to do that?

ERIN! She is beautiful! WOW! She doesn't look that chunky ;)

How about giving her a half of a brownie each day?

Regarding making her a little work-out course...I use little woodenboxes (for craft painting I got at WalMart) I set those up in arow. My buns hop over them. Sometimes they go sofast, they hurdle them like olympic runners ;) I got two ofthose tubes made from vegetable parchment (I think from T-Rex.com??)they crawl through those (you can also find those at PetsMart orPetCo). You can make little hurdles for them withanything. A piece of wood propped up on a brick ortwo. Mine also run circles around clay pots.Anything they can climb on is good too! You can get the partsto make those NIC Condos at Target or WalMart (in the home/organizingsection). I just made my condo about two weeks ago and thebuns LOVE it! I think it is great for them because I madethree levels and they are always climbing to the top and hopping backdown. It's a great workout (I think) for them to run, hop andclimb. Also digging is great, just a real mess if they areinside buns. Even simple things like cutting holes in largeboxes, paper bags, toilet paper rolls...my list goes on andon...anything to get those furry little bundles of joy moving is greatto keep them fit.

OH!! Sometimes I even set-up the chairs from the dinner tablein a square and they run/binky CRAZY zig-zags between the legs of thechairs. SO fun to watch!

Don't worry if your bun doesn't take to all of the great props youset-up for her, she might be a little suspicious at first...my bunsdidn't touch their tubes or wood boxes for WEEKS at first.

Keep us posted!

Hugs! Shorty, Star & Krick

I went to the vets in December to find out thatmy bunnies were very fat indeed!! I was shocked to find this. I changedtheir diet to super Rabbit exel light. I also fed themdandylions and greens as treats instead of other stuff. I also boughtsome wire and made them another bigger temporary run seeing as theywere bored with their usuall one. They loved this so much they weredoing binkies and racing around (very good exercise). I also put mudalong one side of the run, covered this over so it was like a tunneland my bunnies dug through. They loved this sooo much and digging isdefinetly exercise! They have lost lots of weight and they look 3 yearsyounger!! (my bunnies still have a little dewlap, older does get themso don't worry-feel it and check if it is full of fat or not!)

im not sure how to stop that but i sure theres people always happy to help!

by the way that lil dewlap is funny and cute! lol thanks for showing us all your pic!
