Hi everyone,

My 1 yr old bunny Snuggles was neutered yesterday and now he hasdiarrhea. I don't know what to do, I'm so scared. When he first came home yesterday, he wouldn't eat anything but Ifinally managed to get him to eat a few bites here and there oflettuce, apples, and oats. I had to handfeed everything - hewas still pretty groggy from the surgery. I got him to drinka little bit of water but he refused to touch his pellets orhay.

Today, he's more perky but I noticed a few hours ago that he now hasdiarrhea. :( The care sheet I got from the vet mentioned thatI should monitor his droppings and call immediately if they appearabnormal. However, they're now closed and I don't know whatto do! Perhaps it's due to the fresh fruits/veggies he ateyesterday? It wasn't much but he didn't eat his hay orpellets at all. I've taken away all fresh fruits and veggiesand have been trying to get him to eat pellets, hay, and drinkwater. I've had some success but not much so far.Has anyone had any experience with this? Pleasehelp!! I don't know what else to do and I'm really scared andworried. :(

The only thing I know to suggest istry to givesome Nutrical About an inch long ribbon and offer unlimited hay, pellets and water. No more treats. Call the vet as soon as they open.Good Luck and I will say a prayer for you and Snuggles. Keep us posted

I agree with Tina. You could try some rolled oatstoo, see if he will have a bit of them. I'd definatley get someNutrical if you haven't already. That stuff is a godsend for people onhere as it keepsthe bunny hydrated and also contains vitalnutrients. If your in UK you might have trouble getting it but just askthe vet for some Science recovery if you are as it is a similar type ofstuff.

Keeps us posted on how he gets on at the vets. I will say a prayer too.

Welcome Stacies80,

I'd go with the advice given above and not give any more treats atall. I'dremove the pellets and just give him hayand some oats to dry up. NutriCal will boost the immunesystem, but in order for the rabbit to stay hydrated, you should pickup some Pedialyte and give him a syringe full. It's mostimportant to keep him hydrated as dehydration can quickly claim thelife of a rabbit.

Please keep us posted.

your vets closed but i would probably contactanother local vet if poss... i have seen it the pet shops u can get acarrot juice designed for rabbits it claims to stop the runs.. givethis ago and follow the other advice that has been given too youtoo. Just cos ur with one vet if u need to be seen doesntmean u cant go to another. chin up hope things go well keep us updated.

So sorry!! Try to find a 24 houremergency vet hospital! And for future reference, regularlettuce has a lot of water content in it and can give rabbits loosestool, so stick with romaine and dark greens (except for spinach andkale)...
