I have heard so many different opinions on thediet of growing buns. Thought I'd ask you what yourexperiences have been. At what age should I stop the alfalfahay? Does the breed of bun matter? (I have twoDutch aged nearly 7 months). Should I feed them pellets otherthan alfalfa based now? What about amounts ofveggies? How much and how many servings should they have aday?

Thanks and Hugs!

Im not sure as Ido things against the grainso to speak , but it works forme and mine .

I stopped all alfalfa in myherd because of loosepoops in the heat , no bungets it anymore not even thelittle ones , they get Timothybased pellets only now , and tons of hay, as for Veggies I dont feedveggies every day , once ortwice a week , and then onlysmall amounts , . You basicaly have tofeel out what works best foryour rabbits most people give onlya cup of pellets a day plusgreens and hay , somedont do it that waysome give no hay others give noveggies,

Mine get the veggies alongwith the Does as soonas they are old enough to nibble on them , thereis always hayavailable and fresh water.

I use a good brand of alfalfa based pellets forall of my rabbits. Alfalfa has calcium that is good forgrowing bunnies. I free feed prairie grass hay, and give themfresh, clean water every day. I don't feed veggies as thatwas what was causing the loose stools in my rabbits. One aweek, I cut branches off of my willow trees and give everyone a bit ofbranch - leaves and all. It is a good tummy soother for allbunnies and expecially for young and newly weaned babies. Agood fresh pellet will contain everything that your rabbits needwithout having to add alot of extras. If you have to add alot of extras to keep your rabbit healthy and in a good condition, thenyou need to look for another pellet or make sure that your pellets arefresh. Old feed looses it's nutrients and alot of places willsell the old stuff first.

All of the furkids here are on MannaGrow. I will be adding Manna Show to the mix next week. I free feed allof the except for the Punkins-Mitzy & Tinsel, they get two cupsof pellets a day.

I was giving them a mix of alfalfa & timothy hay, butthe alfalfa gave them soft poops so now I just give them all unlimitedtimothy hay.

All of mine except for the Nibblets, get greens every day.Igenerally give them about a cup to a cup and ahalf of greens a day. They also get a quarter cup of dried papyaya and pineapple atnight.

These guys also get to graze in the yard at least once a week. They love the clover and dandelions. They also get a pinch of oats aday only because they love them so.

If you babies are doing good and thriving, I wouldn't worryabout switching them. You may want to switch them when they are a yearold to timothy pellets but that's entirely up to you. If you noticealot of excess calcium in the urine on a consitant basis or if theystart getting on the chubby side, you may need to switch them. Ipersonally don't see the need to switch them. if they are thriving anddoing well.

Mine also get vanilla in their water every day and weak unsweetend decaffinated tea once a week.

Well, I don't use hay anymore because it reallymakes a mess with my system, gets it clogged up so I can't wash itaway. But I feed Nutrena 17 to everyone. The babe's get free fed untilabout 4-5 months and then I cut down from there until they are at a cupa day. I also feed them Calf Manna, Oats, Barley and Sunflower seeds ifthey're going to show. Other than that I stick to strait pellets anddon't go all out for the older ones, they're just happy and healthy w/oit.
