Is it okay to give my bunny unlimited pellets while I’m on vacation? He is only a few months old and my dad is going to come once a day while I’m on vaca. I just don’t want him to go into GI stasis. He also eats a lot of hay. If someone can let me know that would be appreciated.

he will be alone for about 11 days, I do have 2 cats as well and they get along well. I’m also debating on wether or not I should leave his door open so he can roam in the kitchen/dining area do he doesn’t get to lonely. All the doors will be closed and I’m going to have a gate up for the living room so he doesn’t get into it.

Better to keep him in his room, maybe your dad can just spend a bit of time with him in the room and give him a plushy.

Myself only spent around an hour with my outdoors bunnies but they had each other. So your bunny should be fine for a few days

In my experience if i gave my bunnies unlimited pellets they would eat & finish all of it as fast as they could! lol i would recommend give unlimited hay & having your dad give him some pellets when he checks on him

Okay thank you! Im having my dad give him his morning and afternoon pellets all in the morning. I tried this out today and he sort of rationed it.

I went on vacation for about that long and had someone come in to check on bunny 2x day. He gets a small bowl of pellets a day, eat at will and still eats hay. Pet sitter would give him greens once a day. I would be concerned about the cats. Animals act different when owners are gone, why take a chance? I also bought a pet camera and was the best investment and peace of mind! I could check on him while I was out of the country. The best idea ever! I got the YI, simple to use! I also got magnetic calendar on the fridge door with all instructions and things to watch out for, like small poops and chewed furniture or mats or whatever.

I understand that. The camera allows for you to talk to him so that he can be comforted and leave a shirt or something with your scent for him. He can use it as a security blankie.
