WESTBROOK (NEWS CENTER) -- If you're looking to adopt a rabbit, now is a good time. The bunny room at the Animal Refuge League is full.

The shelter's staff says many of the rabbits are "fair bunnies" -- animals that were adopted during fair season last year by people who didn't realize how much work was involved in raising a rabbit.

Alex Sanborn says bunnies do make good pets, for the right people. But before you adopt, you need to know that rabbits are very social and need a lot of attention. They also need a lot of toys, and things to chew on. And if you're hoping for a pet to cuddle with, a bunny probably isn't the answer -- most of them don't like to be picked up.

Ooh those poor bunnies! I wish my best of luck that they all find good, caring, loving, forever homes.

Pipsqueak (the white one) is just adorable! He/she reminds me of my Mini Rex buck, Bruce. So cute!

Alex Sanborn is definitley right about bunnies "being like puppies who never grow up" I think that's a very good thing to tell people who are looking for bunnies to cuddle with, etc. Tell them that bunnies are "puppies who never grow up; they need a lot of attention, exercise, out of cage time, toys and TLC" and then they'll understand rabbits better, hopefully!
