Hello Everyone sorry if this post is a little all over the place I am a tiny bit stressed out! I am a first time bunny owner and the proud father of my little man Comet. He is a black and white dutch rabbit that is soon to be 2 years old and I adopted him back in 2021 as I was in college at the time doing online school so I have pretty much always been with him throughout the day and night and he has been a healthy young man and he has not had any concerns since I have gotten him but it appears though as of lately he has not been eating when he is on his own and I’m not sure why or what could be causing this. For added information about 2 months ago around the end of December I got a job since I pretty much finished my associates degree and wanted to take a break from school so I got a night shift job and work 10 hours a day from Saturday-Tuesday and while I’m away at work he is in the care of my mother and older sister, however as of a few days ago my sister texted me that he wasn’t really eating which was strange because he almost always eats his small portion of pellets he is given twice a day so I left work early and I notice that even his lunch salad bowl appeared to be mostly untouched but as soon as I got there he began eating and such so I just assumed he was unhappy in my room on his own while I was away since we shared it so I cleared out a space across the hall that would be a much bigger space for him and easier for other members of my family to spend time with him so he wouldnt have to be lonely while I am gone though not much has really changed and he still seems to avoid eating if someone is not there with him though his behaviors do not seem out of the ordinary, he still acts his usual sweet and energetic self and is constantly binkying around especially with all the new space he has and flopping over at his new favorite spots though I’m not sure if there could be something that is stressing him out? I’m extremely worried that if he keeps this up his G.I. tract may slow down enough for him to go into stasis especially while I’m at work. I have an emergency bag ready for him in case of anything but I’m really hoping it doesn’t have to come to that and I am attempting to schedule a vet visit but nothing is available anytime soon for my main vet and all the other rabbit specific vets are much to far to take him to so I’m not really sure what to do for him. Has anyone else gone through something similar?
