I'm new to this RO and i want to talk about rabbits and birds. I have owned many rabbits and I most of them died of diarrhea. Currently i own 2 Australian Budgerigars and I kept them because i wanted a pet and I heard most people say that budgies are easy to keep.
There are 2 types of budgerigars: the Aussie budgie and English budgie. English budgies are slightly bigger. I am on the task of taming my budgies and it takes up a lot of time and patience. Which I cannot provide currently.

I have kept rabbits before and I think the results of their deaths are because I bought them when they were in poor condition. It wasn't really noticeable when I bought them I didn't know a lot about rabbits back then... I kept dwarf rabbits and now my eyes are set on this gorgeous a-little-bit-bigger-than-a-dwarf rabbit.

To newbies of rabbit keeping, here is my suggested feeding plan for dwarf rabbits:
Morning: A handful of commercial rabbit food and perhaps a slice of apple or pear to add variety to your pet’s diet.
Afternoon or evening: One handful of greens and succulent foods. And some a carrot cut into bite-able pieces.

Daily: Hay or dry alfalfa- always put enough in the rack to last for 24 hours. Fill the water dispenser with fresh water.
Once or twice a week: Things to nibble on (the more variety, the better); for instance, twigs; in the fall, dry leaves, crunchy bread crusts, and various products pet stores sell.

Feeding Times:
Feed at regular intervals, preferably twice daily.
Only does and baby rabbits need to eat 3 times a day.

It is okay to feed dwarfs cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, lettuce, and turnips but I think that it is best to feed these in small amounts like treats.

DO NOT FEED: Raw beans and potato shoots and other items like chocolates and candy. But in all, be reasonable of what to feed to your rabbit.

So i hope you find this information useful...

Hey, does anyone know some housing plans or pictures that are highly suitable for bunnies?:D

Um i'm asking 2 poll questions and the first answer will be for the first question and after a comma, there will be an answer for the 2nd question... :big wink:

Hi Crazio. Burma! My mom was born there. You might be a RO first member from Burma.

Yeah, it's very possible your previous dwarf bunnies had parasites or rough beginnings that compromised their immune system and digestive system... diarrhea is an unfortunately common death for young buns that go untreated.

I do think I have read many believe cabbage and cabbage family vegetables fed in excess can cause gas for rabbits which can be uncomfortable for the bun. Carrots should be fed as treats rather than a food for daily consumption. Fruits are treats as well. High sugar foods can further complicate the digestive health of young bunnies. Lots of hay at all times, like you said, is key to a healthy bunny. Dried alfalfa is good for growing babies.

cool! where do you live now? how's ur mom? anyways, i'm planning to get a rabbit and my dad and i mostly design our own custom-made rabbit houses. It's a bit expensive but they last for a long time and our former rabbits like them!

Hello, Crazio. Nice to meet you. :) First of all, I'm so sorry for your loss of bunnies. :) Burma ? :) Hello, neighbour ! I'm from Thailand, but now I live in Warsaw. :) Gosh, I miss my home, hehe. Love love love your Burmese powder. I have a friend from there who once suggested me to used Burmese powder. It was really good. :) I love it ! Anyway, very nice to meet you. Do you have any pics of your pets ? I'd love to see it. :) See you around !

My name's not really Crazio, my friends say that i am "crazy" not "weird" like them. They say that "weird" is the new "normal". So my bestie came up with the name Crazio. Acutally the rabbit isn't mine...YET. i already named him and i'm getting him soon....i think... Um what exactly do you mean by burmese powder?

LOL nice story about your name!

Custom made cages are the very best. You can make them big or small, and multiple levels for the bunny to jump on. If you are keeping them outdoors, just please make sure they are out of the way of direct sunlight!

My mom is in NY with me now. She's originally from Mandalay, then moved to China in the 60's. She used to tell me stories about her childhood. Her grandmother used to live in Yangon and she'd visit during holidays.

True true.... The cages in burma are very bad, just plan and simple metal bars. So it's bad for the bunny. My bunny cage has a big slit on the bottom. There is this wooden panel that fits in the slit. Like a drawer or something.
Acutally my bunny cage was meant to be a bird cage so the door is small. Now i'm planning to make another bunny cage which is wider and has wheels on it so that i can the cage becomes a mobile. The climate can be very extreme sometimes in Burma so when it's really hot i can move my cage around.

lol. Crazio :) hehe, that's cool. Well, the powder I mentioned was something my friend from Burma gave me long time ago. I used to be so upset about my skin, so sensitive and get easily dried. She gave me this powder, it smelt like jasmine with something :confused2: Forgive me I really can't remember the name. It was so good, matched with my skin. I used it for a long periods, then I moved to here. Unfortunately, I don't have it with me :) I guess I have an excuse to go back home and visit that friend of mine. Hahaha.
Looking forward to see your bunny soon. :) Have a nice day.
