I decided to make a blog for Buddy and Roxie's bonding process even though this is about the 2nd or 3rd month....:disgust:

The first week of bonding we did it in the bathroom. They were really good with eachother and didn't fight at all. Roxie would occasionally groom Buddy but not much. We started putting banana on Buddy's head and she would lick it off. She then started grooming him more and more.

As the weeks progressed we moved them to the downstairs bathroom and they started doing excellent. Roxie would always groom Buddy! It was sooo cute and then she would do a DBF right on top of him with her head on his, occasionally giving him licks while lying down. :heart:During those weeks Buddy even groomed Roxie 2 or 3 times. (Buddy doesn't lick... he has only licked me once... and then he ran away!) But Roxie, on the other hand is a licking machine! She licks EVERYTHING. If you go into her cage she will literally give you a bath. :hearts:

Buddy and Roxie started doing so good that we moved them into the backyard where they are everyday to do bonding. They were OK. Ocasional licks, but no fights at the start. They would occasionally get into small fights in the back yard. We put in a toy that they both loved and they did good with it. When the toy was in, they never got into any fights. :bunny24

We then moved them onto the grass. This didn't go well. They got into fights but nothing serious. I clapped my hands and they seperated. Once or twice my dad had to use a broom. :shame

We are now going back to the bathroom. We did a bonding session yesterday in the bathroom and it was great! Within 20 seconds, Roxie was grooming Buddy. She hasn't groomed Buddy in a while. Roxie groomed Buddy for about 5 minutes straight. Probably making up for the time that she hasn't groomed him! Don't bunny tongues get tired? :tongue

I will post more info on tonight later! ... and maybe some pictures!

Buddy and Roxie did SO well last night! Buddy even groomed Roxie for a bit! Here are some pictures:

Roxie started out grooming Buddy.

Where did Buddy go?

Yay he came back!

Why does he always have to move me away from the wall so that he can lay down? Maybe I want to be by the wall!

Oh well, I still love him lots.

Finally Buddy grooms ME!

Buddy and Roxie are such a cute couple! Buddy always has to push Roxie over to be by the wall though! Roxie is SOO patient with him! She'll let Buddy do whatever he wants with her! Last night Buddy was SITTING on her for about 15 seconds! :wink

:biggrin2:I think today we will put them in the bathroom by themselves for a while. They don't ever get into fights in the bathroom and roxie has now stopped all of her nipping. We are going to put a baby monitor in there and keep one with us. We will just be in the next room over. Sound like a good idea?

Also, what should we do for bonding next? Buddy and Roxie do wonderful inside but not all that great outside..... I know that outside is not neutral, but after time in the bathroom together, do you think they will do better outside? :?

You can try leaving them in neutral territory for a long time (like a week or more) to try to solidify their bond before bringing them out to non neutral territory. If you can leave them in the bathroom for a couple weeks, that would probably work well.

Once the bond has been created and solidified, they shouldn't see each other as an intruder anymore.

Thanks! I remember you posting that on someone else's blog but I couldn't remember who's! I will try that! :biggrin2:

Edit: Should I try to keep them overnight too with a baby monitor tonight if everything goes good?

Yes that's what I have been doing! Just watching them for about an hour just laying down and stuff get pretty boring. Hopefully I can find the baby monitor.....

We did bonding last night with the baby monitor. Everything went great! I could look at them through the window and when I looked they were always either laying together of grooming each other. We did the bonding session for a little more than an hour. I think we might do it a little longer today.

As for the baby monitor.... it was ok... It sounded as though everything was kind of blurry and scraping sounds were being made in the bathroom, so I checked and they were just lying next to eachother. :biggrin2: But if they got in a fight, I'm sure that it would probably work! The scraping sounds were probably Buddy! He loves to hop and slide! :dude:

Yes the bonding is going pretty well.... we are taking Dawn's suggestion and we will be keeping them in the bathroom for a while! I will get more pictures tonight! :biggrin2:
