HI my name is Sherry and im a new member ..Myquestion is how old is a doe when she quits breeding ? Alsomy other Doe had 10 babies is that alot for a doe to have??? ThanksSherry

First of all, I am not a breeder so takeeverything I say with a grain of salt. I am not sure how olda doe is when she is physically unable to breed. I do knowsome of the members here retire their breeding does at around 3 yearsof age. This is because breeding is taxing on a doe and, aswith other mammals, complications arise when breeding olderanimals.

10 kits is a lot, but not unheard of. It kind of depends onthe breed. Some will usually only have 4 or 5, othersmore. Recently there have been two litters of 12 here.

How old is your rabbit? What breed? Howmany litters has she had? And when was the last one?

10 is not uncommon, Dutch usually havevery large litters. I think both of the recent Dutch litters on tisboard had 12.

Some does will breed their entire lives and I'veheard of does over 7 years of ageproducing litters.Breeders generally don't use a doe after 4 years of age.We don't breed a doe after 3 years of age.

Uterine tumors are not uncommon and may shorten a does breeding career.

Litters of 10 are not unusual for medium - large breeds of rabbits.

The Guinness World Record book lists 2 does that have produced littersof 24 kits. I believe there was alsoa rabbit in theUS that had 26 kits.

She is part dutch (her mother is Dutch and daddy is a big white with black spots ) not sure what his breed is ??

Shes around a yr old and she is paart dutch hermom is dutch dad is big white with black spots??and i breed her oncebefore and she killed them so this is her 2 nd litter but she didntkill any this time? Thanks Sherry

Thanks for the info she is around 4 so i willnot breed her any more i had breed her but she never gave me any .. sheeither didnt take or possibly done away with them Thanks Sherry

If you really wantto breed why dont you look into purebred rabbits. There are way toomany mixed rabbits out there in shelters and rescues.

Well i would have not breed them but my brotherin law had lots of rabbits and he had them seperated but hemissexed the one i got cause i thought i had 2 females buttt i didnt...or i wouldnt have breed them together !!

Well i plan on waiting and giving her a restafraid id over breed her and i don"t want that.. plus she has beenagressive and i dont know why ?? Thanks Sherry
