I've been looking into photography schools and just had a phone interview with Brooks Institute in Santa Barbra, CA. The guy I talked to was very nice to me and had been to Alaska and answered my questions first. We talked about housing down there because their dorm things don't allow pets. He asked if my rabbits were caged or free roam (he said he love rabbits). After I answered all of his crazy questions about why I like photography etc. he went and talked to the admissions director to see if they would let me in (he said that if he wouldn't let me in he would "stand on his head and slap him until he said yes"). I have a spot saved at Brooks and am trying to decide if I should go there or not.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything about Brooks or Santa Barbra. The only reason I wouldn't go there is because my boyfriend would come with me and I feel bad about making him move. If I don't go into photography I would go for an elementary education major at UAA.

I wish I could help! I can't offer any help on the School or the place - my partner lived in CA most of his life, it's nice & warm there! lol. I've not been there yet myself though - we always go to Alaska when we travel :p

I just wanted to say that although it would mean having to pick yourself, your boyfriend & your rabbits up and relocate the bunch of you, if it's what you really, really want and you have a place there, I would go. If it's something you *think* you want but are not sure about - then don't go, or really look at your other options. I know you likely know that already, but what I am trying to say is, follow your heart but also your instincts.

I wish I could help more - I read this earlier and thought maybe someone would pop up. I'm here for moral support though! :)
