hello everyone,

we just noticed that our bunny has his middle finger placed weirdly. It’s not going back to normal and looks bad. Is it a broken finger? His nails are cut regularly and always stick out like that. It’s because he doesn’t have much fur on his feet/hands.

I’d be grateful for any help.

He could have a broken toe, it isn't uncommon in rabbits- especially ones that have been caged on wire or other "holey" surfaces. Keep the nails trimmed as you have been and if he seems to be in pain, take him to the vet. Otherwise, there's likely not much else to do for it. I've known a few rabbits with healed broken toes that lived comfortable and otherwise normal lives.

If the nail itself isn't just crooked, but the bone of the toe is broken, it's best to have an experienced rabbit vet take a look at it, especially if your rabbit is showing any signs of it being painful. The options are splinting the leg(which can be difficult with rabbits), amputation of the toe, or leaving it to see if it can heal on it's own.
