Ah i'm so excited! This is my first litter of brits. At first i thought they were black otters and then i found out once they started growing hair they were all chestnuts. I was kind of disappointed.
Also What does it mean when an animal is proven?

Heres the sire, Rocky. Hiltons Supercharged
He has numerous amounts of BOBs and one Reserve In Show. Hoping his babies are as gorgeous as him!

Pic coming soon

And the Dam is a REW. Ill get a picture of her when i go home this weekend.

The babies :D

How does their chestnut color look?
And i hope to get some opinions on their type as soon as i start posing them :D

Beautiful babies! Congrats on your first Brit litter!

Proven means an animal has produced kits.

Their color looks normal. Chestnuts always look dark like otters when they first come out. I guess you didn't have to worry about different colors with the Tans. :)

Thank you lela!

Ha yea the only colors i have to deal with are black blue chocolate and lilac.

Heres pics of the sire

Beautiful babies!! Is this breed hard to handle? I've heard they are mean and bitters. I LOVE this breed and would love to raise them one day but I'm afraid they would bite the kids. How are your BP's temperaments?

Well Rocky when he was a jr he was the sweetest thing ever. Of course if he felt you werent holding tight enough he would shoot out of your hands. Rocky has been the greatest little rabbit but ever since i started breeding him he has gotten a little more lets say hormonal? Now i dont really handle him alot anymore cause he doesnt like it. He'd rather do binkies all over the apartment. I cant let him because a) he is just way too fast for me. It takes me at least an hour of cornering him and watching him slip right past my fingers. This even happened when he was a junior. and b) because he cant control his bathroom habits. Now the babies are much more curious than my tans as in they love to smell everything. My doe is pretty hormonal too. But she had never been out of the barn or had an actual person touch her since i got her which was in October i think. She was almost a year then. After she gets to know you she doesnt try to bite anymore but if you go away for a week or two and come back (like i do) then i dont know if we will ever bond.

I would say they are not for a first time rabbit owner or definitely not for kids unless theyre mixed with a more docile breed.
Of course every rabbit is different and i found the exception with rocky. But i hope to raise his babies with much handling and love and hopefully they will turn out to be just like him.

would like to add: this is also why i dont let non-brit-experienced people hold any of them. They are just too fast and too unpredictable.

Bottom line is if you want one learn how to properly handle them and if you don't learn how fast or wild they can be you will learn fast once you own one. I dont mean to discourage you, if i am i'm sorry

Thanks Sarah for the info! No, I totally understand, I have head that about this breed from others too. I think they are just beautiful to watch on the judging table! You have a gorgeous boy by the way!!:) I've never seen a BP in person, maybe we'll get to watch the class at Ft Worth, will you be there?

No i wont be at ft.worth. Its kinda far from us. We will be at Crosby on Feb.26th and at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March. We were going to seguin but i might be volunteering at the heifer show for the star of texas show.

They are so interesting to watch i agree. Thank you i think rocky is a gorgeous boy and no one ever says anything bad about him. Gorgeous eye ears head type and extension thats all i hear. I take it back the only thing people negatively comment on is his coat LOL. He is rarely in coat maybe one or two months out of the year. Its horrible cause i think he would have more RIS or maybe even a BIS if he would stop molting.

Thank you everyone. I want to post pictures when they are a little older of them posing. Rocky is posed the correct way although he could have reached higher on his front limbs. But i hope everyone will give me comments on what they think of the babies types. Be waiting cause they are coming soon. Oh and ill try to get a posed picture of mom. She isnt as good as rocky but hopefully the babies got his genes. lol

Yay! I should print off these pics for the next time someone says Dora (orphaned Brit that I raised) is a wild bunny.

And yes, they are very wild. Dora more so because she had some brain damage when she was a baby, but she was getting hard to handle before that happened. She loves me and my hubby but I will never allow my daughter to play with her. My lap-bunny tan, on the other hand, has to be saved from the baby because she lets the baby pat her really hard and even yank her fur!

Well sad thing. One of the brit babies slipped through the wire. this was really odd seeing as we have urine guards going around the whole cage but we noticed it missing last night and my mom found it dead this morning. So sad i hope it doesnt happen again. .

Pictures of the Dam. She pulled alot of fur and is not used to posing but this was the best i could get. Anyone care to comment on her compared to Rocky? lol.

Well we had a new litter and out of four three survived. The last litter all perished. Poor things. Mom stopped feeding them at 2weeks of age. But these guys are doing awesome and look really nice just like daddy :)
