WOW - what an awesome thread you shared the link for...thanks so much. I've bookmarked it to read in detail later.

I wanted to share that the lionhead breeder I got SugarBear andGingerSpice from - starts breeding her lionheads at around 4 1/2 monthsof age. She stated that they could start earlier than thatand told me to separate them by 12-14 weeks of age.

The funny thing is that they are now about 9 weeks I'm thinking (gottago figure that out later) and the male was mounting the female lastnight. I was thinking, 'No...I'm supposed to have 3 moreweeks to get you another cage!".

:?

Oh well.....I've budgeted now for a new cage in 2 weeks.

EEK! Same thing with Shorty & Star. Theystarted mounting at 8 weeks!!??!! I didn't have enough moneyto get another cage. A great friend of mine let me borrow acage she found at a thrift store for $20.00. Try local thriftstores like Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc. She found thiscage which is actually a kennel and is really nice. It is agood size too! Maybe you can luck out too and get a greatdeal!

Hugs! Shorty, Star & Krick

French Lops are a very large breed that are notfully mature until about 8 months of age, which is when they aregenerally bred for the first time.

I'm so happy to see so many people doing 'research' before actually breeding their rabbits! *happy tears*

Thanks Pamnock. I will breed her around June.Thanks. Information was really helpful. My other question is that iwant to sell the babies but I don't know when I should sell them atwhich age.

Thanks,
Cleo

The bunnies can be weaned at 6 weeks, butshouldnotbe sold before 8 weeks of age. Irecommend 10-12 weeks.

Because bunnies may sexually mature as early as 12 weeks, they need tobe separated by sex before that time (so you'll need a minimum of twoextra cages).

Chelsea hasn't told me all this so I have beentrying to find out because I don't want anything to go wrong. Anywaysshe breeds mini lops and French lops are different from mini lops. Mytheory is that big rabbits take longer to develop all their adult hoodneeds, so if you wean them to early something will happen to them. Thanks pamnock.
