Well, with the disaster just about over with, I was able to concentrate a bit on breeding plans. Cher, who is 1 year and 4 months and has NEVER had a litter, needed bred. I ended up breeding her to Sonny, even though he's her brother. The only other choice, of proven bucks, was Kitty's Cal buck. I bred them last night and again today. This will be her fifth time being covered...if she doesn't take this time she'll just be a show rabbit and I'll give up on getting a litter out of her.
I also bred Adeline to Grump. I really want to see what I get with this cross, and see if Grump produces better babies than the cross with Sonny. He hasn't successfully bred anything, so if she catches great...if not, no big deal.
Kitty's breeding Agent Gibbs and Twila in the morning. VERY excited to see what we get when breeding mother to son. Both are awesome rabbits, so we should get some really nice babies. We hope. It will be Gibb's first time, at not quite 6 months old, so if she catches that's awesome..if not, no big deal. Although she is shooting to get some babies soon, so she has a selection to pick out to take to the PaSRBA Convention in February.
In another month she'll breed Abby back to Jack (her father). Again, both are really nice rabbits so we're crossing our fingers.
Luckily my 3 intermediates won't need bred for a few more months. I really want to take them all to the shows, but I also don't want to risk waiting too long and not ever being able to get litters from them. Some say you can't wait too long, others say after a year old they're impossible to get bred. Not really sure who's right, but would hate to wait and then find out they're lines end with them.
