What is your opinion on breeding a siamese sable and a black? I think I read some where that you weren't really supposed too, but what do you all think?

I posted on another forum too. Figured I would get everyone's opinion. :)

No...I don't think it gave an explanation...

Maybe like white hairs or something. I think it was on a netherland dwarf thing. Hhhhmmmm. Maybe it was a mistake? lol I have done it before and i know others. I only got blacks with white hairs. Maybe that was the reason.

I have had good results breeding Siamese Sables to Blacks in mini rex. Not sure about other breeds. The only thing is that in mini rex Siamese Sable is not a showable color, I'm not sure your breed.
But anyway, I think it should be fine, especially if they didn't give an explanation as it could have been a mistake as OakRidgeRabbits said.

Hope I helped,
Karlie

hmm Personally i wouldn't breed shaded to self but thats maybe just me. Personally I would be wondering what it would do to the colour as you want a saddle on sable. ( if you get what I mean) sable goes with smoke and shaded bred REW. I also hear a lot of putting marten to siamese every few generations to keep the colour right
