Breeding Behavior

My male is a little over a year old. He has not had problems with spraying because he lives in a family home. However, my boyfriend and I are planning on breeding our bunnies together. She will be housed in a separate cage in a separate apartment. My question is, will he start to spray if he is introduced to a female (she is about 2 years old). His exposure will be very limited to her, about twice a month max, solely for the purpose of breeding.

Are you breeding them to start selling or showing dutch. Just wondering.

As far as the spraying. I have a Britannia Petite Buck. He is now probably 1 year or so old. He never sprayed at my apartment until i had a doe in the room with him. I had a sick doe at my apartment to care for her and I noticed he would start spraying. As soon as i took her back to the house with my parents he hasn't sprayed since.

We are breeding to sell the little babies.

Has the doe been breed before? At 2 years old, it is not really a good idea to breed her for the first time. If she has been breed and had a litter before, then it would be better especially if the litter has been more recent.

If he is only around the doe for breeding and doesn't have much exposure beyond that (goes home right after), then he will hopefully not change in behaviour. If he has not been bred before, then his behaviour could change. You would really just have to see what happens after you breed him.

Does gestation period is 28 to 31 days. They need to be with their litters at least 6 weeks.

Just so you know, you will not make any money by breeding rabbits, if that's what you're trying to do.

Im not into breeding to make money. And I would only put her in the cage until she gets pregnant. But, I have decided against breeding the two rabbits. I do not think I have the time to handle it all with school and work.
