Hello all, I just got 2 bunnies from one of my patients who owns a pet store as a Thank You gift. She says that they are netherland dwarf rabbits, and I'm just wondering if they anyone can tell if they are true dwarfs or false dwarfs/big uglies. Also some help with regards to their colour would be much appreciated! I've been scouring all the colour charts but nothing really seems to match 100% with my buns :) Thank you all in advance!

The first bunny is Daphne, she's about 10-11 weeks and 290 grams today. The first picture was when she was 8 weeks old (not with me then yet), the next two are taken today.

The second bunny is Bruno, he's also about 10-11 weeks and 390 grams today. The first picture similarly was taken when he was about 8 weeks old, and the others today.

Unfortunately I'm still not too good with posing them yet, but I hope they'll do :) Bruno's ears are a tad long and he seems to be growing much bigger than Daphne, so I'm thinking he might possibly be a BUB? But then again, they are from different parents so their final size might be different, really. The nice lady who gave them to me only told me that their expected final weights would be between 0.9 to 1.1 kg.

I'm sorry that I can't help you with your questions, but I'd love to know where you got those totally cool litter boxes. It doesn't sound like you are from the US though so that may be why I've never seen anything like that before.

They both look like dwarfs to me. I don't know the brc standard for dwarfs and haven't seen many but I do know compared to the bus dwarf yours ears tend to be on the long side for Both. I would also watch daphne for long shoulders. They aren't posed so its hard to say but from the second and third pictures that's what I see.

As far as colors the Doe looks likes like a dawn but as a baby looks like she could be a lynx. The best way to determine the difference is to look at her belly color. If its pure white to the skin then she's fawn and if its white with a lilac under color then she is a lynx.

As far as the buck I'm going to say frosty

Here's the brc standard: http://www.thebrc.org/standards/F12-Netherland Dwarf.pdf

They both look like Netherland Dwarfs. Depends on how big they do get--we had one that was just under 2 pounds or 890 grams and one that was 4 pound or around 1800 grams and both were gorgeous too, a Sealpoint and a Black Otter but neither was overly friendly.

Thank you all for your replies!

@Bville: you're right I'm not from the US! I had no idea that my litter box wasn't all that common though :p I love it because its easy to clean, and the tray is easy on the bunnies' paws

@woahlookitsme: thank you! I had no idea there was a colour called frosty; I haven't seen it in any colour charts but it is a pretty good way to describe Bruno I reckon :)

@Nancy: I checked with the lady I got my buns from, seems like they both share the same mother but had different fathers; Bruno's father was bigger than Daphne's although they were both show quality. I guess that could account for their differences in size! I was a tad worried Bruno was taking food away from Daphne, or that I was feeding them wrong, but I was checking them out today and Daphne gives Bruno a run for his money when it comes to reaching the food dish first! :D

Netherland dwarf, the first pic is lynx and the 2nt is a smoke pearl or sable point. i am very experienced when it comes to rabbit colors.
