Well, My son has applied to 3 universities so far. IU - accepted, PURDUE - waiting to hear (everyone is) and Rose Hulman .......... Last week we heard from Rose Hulman and he has been accepted!!! It's not easy to get into that school, only 500 per year are accepted. It's a top Engineering, science and Math school. It's also very expensive....... PRAY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS!

Since he's in there, I'm sure he'll be in Purdue..... he's still applying a few places.

Hey, from one bragging mom to another...don't apologize! THIS is something to be really proud of. It is the result of a lot of hard work and committment, something which many young people are sorely lacking. So all there is left to say is:

Congrats! Looks like he has a bright future!

You can also save a lot of $$$$ by purchasing used books on Ebay, Amazon, etc. Wish I had known that in my daughter's freshman year. :?

Be sure to get FAFSA filled out ASAP. You should find out your state eligibility for grants through filling out FAFSA, and your son may be eligible for Pell grants. My entire tuition is paid for through state and federal grants.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Girl...i'd be taking out an ad in the paper...

Congrats.. thats some good breedin as Squidz says..lol

Ah wow! Lucky! I'm still waiting for interviews. I don't think I will get into my first choice. If I don't get in to my first or second choice I think I might take a year out and get some experience. I wish I could just know now! Well done to him!

Thank you so much everyone! He's really a smart boy. I know he'll do very well wherever he goes.

He will be within 2 hours of home regardless of where he decides to go. Rose Hulman is the furthest. The Hulman family is a part of Indy Car Racing and they donated the land many years ago to build the school.

IU is also a lovely campus. It's beautiful and organized really well. The staff seem so nice and stuff too but it's HUGE!

Purdue is a terrific school for Agriculture based degrees. All three offer something in the line he's thinking he wants - Bio Med/Bio Chem Engineering. He might go into medicine but at this point he'll start with a science degree. Maybe work on making the world a cleaner and greener place.

Mom and Dad gave him an early graduation gift today.... a Gateway laptop. He's on cloud 9!

As an engineering student myself, CONGRATS! LOL. I'm all for Chemical by the way! ;)

The odd thing is, when it came to me picking schools I only applied to one. I never even considered any others!

I'm sure he'll do good no matter where he goes. Keep in mind that while it's expensive, it will be worth it in the end!

Awesome! Congratulations!

There may be all sorts of local scholarships he can get too that help. Even "little" ones like $250-500 a year can go a long way to helping pay for books. I got a scholarship (years ago) from FFA, my high school, some other community group, etc. I'm sure he will get some good scholarships. Sometimes you have to research what is out there and apply for them but I hope his school counselor is helping with that. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for you and pray for scholarships too!

Hey, big congrats to your son...and you certainly do deserve to be bragging! Took my son 3 tries to be accepted at Sheridan, where acceptance was limited in the program he wanted. First two years he was turned down simply because they had no room, third time was the charm...and they said he was near the top of the list when they did finally take him because of his marks. Go figure. :)

That's a good tip...and to add to it, a lot of students who are graduating may be willing to sell their texts as well. Check out ads at the university and your son will probably find some great deals. Anywhere money can be saved, it's worth it. :)

We're doing the FAFSA thing this week, 4H scholarship, Lilly Heritage (Lilly is a pharmaceutical giant here in Indiana), and a zillion others. Luke's smart so I would think he'll get something. He received an Excellence award for his grades in his school recently. It's not money but it says a lot when you put that on an application - and 10 years of 4H - community service, etc.

We'll take every dime we can get - and I hope we get enough to send him wherever he wants to go!

I second some wishes for those scholarships for him, too! College is expensive, and I only went to a tech. college! Good luck to him! :)

Sit down with a cup of coffee and leave plenty of time to work your way through FAFSA. Print out all info when complete!

Be sure to carefully write down passwords and user names as well as your pin number. It's a nightmare to try to get back on when you misplace this info.

Thanks for the info! I need to get a folder going with all the information and notes to what is going on. It's pretty intense isn't it?
