I have a playpen for my Bunny. It's made to be for outdoors but I use it inside. So there's no bottom to it. What can i put underneath of the cage so she isn't tearing up my carpet?

I would love to put her outside but we have an open yard (no fenced in area). And I'm afraid of her getting fleas, mites, etc?

I found a big mat at Home Depot that I flipped over so the carpeted side is down and the rubber side is up so it becomes the floor of the "play pen." The pen just needs to be inside the edges or they (that means you Fred) will chew them. I think it's at least 5' x 8'. My pen is two pet exercise pens hooked together and I use it outside as well with netting clipped to the top to keep out hawks. I just treat my rabbits with Revolution in the summer months to prevent fleas and ticks.

There's nothing wrong with having her indoors. I've always housed my rabbits indoors. They can get all the exercise they need indoors in a bunny proofed area.

If your bunny happens to be a carpet chewer (is she spayed?) then you can use a number of things for flooring. A large piece of rolled linoleum could work (edges outside pen wall). In the past, I've just laid lino down on top of my carpet and placed a bottomless NIC cage on top.

Or you could use a heavy duty plastic tarp and put a cheap fleece blanket on top. This is how I make temporary travel cages if I have my rabbits with me.

The attached collage shows other uses for x-pens, but I'm adding it to show a couple ways I've used flooring with pens.
