I am starting to bond my 8 week old female bunny (Lexi) with my 11 month old neutered male bunny (Buckley).
When i first put their runs next to each other Buckley smelled her and started grunting, then starting digging. When Lexi noticed him she went to smell him and then started charging at him, which made Buckley grunt more. But then after a few minutes, they both settled down and just ignored each other, and ate the grass. Are they both showing signs of aggression or did they act this way because it was the first time meeting each other? Is Buckley grunting because he wants to attack or because he is wanting to mount/hump her?

Also, when they do this behaviour should i just ignore them or should i 'tell them off'?

Thanks in advance. :)

I'm probably alone here, but I love the excitement of the bonding process!

Does Buckley grunt usually? Can you differentiate between the happy grunts from the angry grunts?

Since it's the first time they have been officially introduced, I think it's too early to tell. And, seeing that they settled down and ignored each other, I'll take that as a good sign for the time being. I would wait-and-see what happens during the next few bonding sessions.

That sounds about as well as can be expected. They basically said: hey, someone else is here. I'm not sure I like it, but I'll wait & see.

Okay, and thanks!
And no Buckley doesn't usually grunt, but i put them together again today and there was no grunting, Buckley's tail went high and he stood all tall (if you get when i mean!) when he first seen her but they were both a lot more relaxed, so i agree with you LakeCondo! :)
