Hi there,

I've been doing a lot of reading online with regards to bonding rabbits.

Most say that different breeds of rabbits dont matter and that most rabbits can be bonded with patience, hard work and time.

I have a doe Mini Lop (spayed) about 8 months old and a buck Netherland Dwarf 3.5 months old (not yet neutered but will be done in the coming two months).

After they're both fixed i hope on bonding them.

I know that M/F combo's are the easiest to bond, they're both human friendly, dont bite, and are not skittish, both are very affectionate bunnies.

Will it matter that the buck is a smaller younger male? (the netherland dwarf that is).

Assuming i bond them progressively over a few weeks and in neutral territory, including car rides etc, over time should it be fine? Will their size/breed difference affect the bond?

Even the hardest pairs can be bonded right?

It will make no difference except that possibly he could be at a disadvantage should a fight occur during the bonding efforts, but not necessarily. Once they are bonded there should be no difference at all. Some bonds between rabbits are stronger than others, but it has nothing to do with size or breed. It can be harder to bond babies to adults, but when he is old enough to be neutered it should be fine.

Though, bonding is sometimes not successful, but again, having two different breeds or sizes does not make that more likely to happen.

I know that bonding can be unsuccessful, how often does this occur?

If we try hard and do it slowly over time will it lead to success?

The only time i've put them together was one before either were fixed, and my 2 month old Nethie tried to jump the older larger Minilop, so i pulled them apart (fearing pregnancy!).
