My new bunny Bizz...brought him home for my birthday [a gift to myself after the loss of Sweetpea] on September 1rst, 2011. Ironically Bizz was the same age as when I first brought Sweetpea home & both rabbits [different years] were birthday gifts though Bizz was purchased for me BY ME & Sweetpea was purchased by me on behalf of my former boyfriend.
Unknown to me is that Bizz's initially aggressive personality [constantly BITING/attacking people] was a defensive habit because he has a congenital hip defect. At IRONICALLY around the same date that Sweetpea broke his back in 2011 resulting in his demise...Bizz sustained a femoral head fracture in the malformed hip after HURLING himself out of the bathtub & crashing on the floor June 26th, 2013[I live alone & had released my hand from him for a split second, out of necessity, though he was POISED to spring & I sensed it...he flew into the air the split second I relaxed my grasp whilst washing his feet & bottom after a messy pooh]. Little did I know that he'd sustained such a traumatic injury as a hip fracture but knew something was amiss by the second day; it was sickening to watch how he flailed to raise up to a sitting position. The vet was very booked & I couldn't get him in to be seen til the 3rd day at which time x-ray revealed his current condition & the pre-existing deformity. What had seemed a cute shuffle & scoot habit of walking [he'd walk his feet & scuttle butt when little] was in fact necessary as the hip doesn't properly flex & move...vet determined he's probably always had some degree of pain in his 2 years of life.
