This happened a while ago, but we were in the hallway, and Sabriel was hopping around. He went up to me, as I was laying on my left side.. and he dug at my inner thigh of my left leg, then bit me hard enough to leave a bruise that is STILL there.

Then, I was letting him hop around on my bed, and he did the same thing, to the lower part of my right leg, but drew blood THROUGH my pants this time... that mark is there still as well.

He is a super docile rabbit, lays his head down to be pet all the time, and always runs back and forth, all excited when he sees me. He loves attention. He hasn't shown any aggression or hints towards biting at all since. He loves to be held and cuddled with and he just,, isn't the sort of rabbit who seems like he'd do that for no reason.

I thought it was because he was scared because he was meeting new people the first time, but the second time was completely random..

I don't get it, does anyone have any ideas on why he did that?

My rabbits will both do this - typically the digging means "out of my way!" and if I don't comply I get a nip. Sometimes I just move so that I won't get nipped. Other times I'm proactive about it and make them stop before they get to the nipping stage. Since he's to the point of drawing blood, I would take action. Push him away and say no when he starts digging. If he does get a nip in, make a loud yelping noise. He's not being aggressive - he's just trying to communicate with you, so you need to figure out how to communicate back so that he realizes that is not acceptable.
