HI I'M A VERY NEW BUNNY OWNER AND HAVE GOT 4 NEW BUNNYS WERE FREE TO GOOD HOME BUT I HAVE ALREADY SPENT AFORTUNE ON THEM, I DO HAVE OTHER ANIMALS, SUCH AS 5 RATS, 5 CATS, 3 HORSES, 4 FOOT FISH TANK, A DOG AND A LOVELY HUBBY. BUT I'M JUST EXPERIENCING A NAUGHTY BUNNY SHE IS GROWLING AND HISSING AT ME ON ENTERING HER CAGE AND THEN ATTACKING MY HANDS WITH HER FRONT FEET I'VE ONLY HAD THE RABBITS A FEW DAYS AND KNOW THAT IT TAKES TIME AND SHE IS QUITE NICE OUT OF THE CAGE IN MY LIVING ROOM. IS SHE JUST TRYING HER BOUNDARIES OR ARE SOME RABBITS JUST TERRITORIAL? THE OTHER 3 ARE FINE.

:helloand :welcome1to RabbitsOnline. I am glad you found the site. RO is a very active, friendly and helpful website devoted to rabbits and their slaves.

Rabbits can be very protective of their cages because thats where they feel safe. When you reach in your invading her safe zone and she doesn't like it. If she is fine once out of her cage then that is most likely the reason.

Here are some good links to areas of the site you might find interesting, the Library section, full of good reference info, Bunny Blog, where you can keep everyone up to date on your bunny and your life as a bunny slave and if you bunny would like to ask questions of other buns the Bunny Chat is the spot to be. The regional forum is a good way to find a rabbit savvy vet or to post places where you get some of your supplies for your bun etc. For the lighter side and to give you a chuckle or two stop by the go to the Let Your Hare Down section for anything but bunny's.

You don't have to say what city your in but if you could update your profile withthe areayour in, may be likeNorth west Ohio, Canada, UK etc, that would help others provide you with info that may help you and your bunny.

If you would like to post pictures in your post this link How to put photo's in your posts will help explain that.

I hope I didn't overwhelm you with info. This is a wonderful site and I look forward to seeing pictures and reading some stories.

Hi and welcome! Wabbitdad12 has given you some good answers already, but a post in the Nutrition and Behavior section may get you some more answers. Your bunny may be what we call cage-aggressive or territorial, meaning she sees her cage as her space and her space only, and doesn't want you in it. I have a bunny who is like this about a small pet tent that we have in our bedroom (they're free-ranging). If you put your hands near the tent, she growls and attacks! We just know to leave her alone, and I don't put my hands near the tent unless I have a treat in them! Also, it may be helpful not to write in all caps because it is hard to read.

Hello I as well once had a biting snarling rabbit. I have had her now for about 6 months and she is finally starting to warm up to me. She use to lung at me and bite when I tried to pick her up but we are slowly moving past that...Phew. I have had other rabbits before and I currently have another male whom I have had since he was 8 weeks old and now 1.5 yrs. He has never had a problem with me picking him up. However the female was already a year old when I got her and came from a breeder who left her in a single cage with no real human contact. I believe this is the reason she was so protective and essentially scared of me. This sounds to be the case with your rabbit and I think the best advice would just slowly show her that you are a friend. Don't get discouraged because it can take time but will pay off in the end.
