Heya everyone!!
Haven't had a blog for Benji and Pippin for ages, and they are all growed up now- so here are some recent piccies.
Benji is now one year and eight months old
Pippin will be one year old on the 31st of this month

Don't worry everyone- I watched Benny very carefully around my guitar cables and then moved them straight after these piccies!

Benji and Pippin are having the time of their life and they are my whole world. I love them with all my heart and I couldn't imagine my life without them. <3

Lol yeah he does doesn't he? He does have a bit of an attitude but he's such a gentle boy really- he can get miffed and have a bit of a grump but he would never bite or scratch anyone- nothing- he's so good natured.

I think he thinks of himself as a little prince though- he is sure treated like one!!!

Pippin is less like that, although he can have his fair share of grumps, but is also incredibely good natured with people- he is just a little shyer than Benji.

While Benji would explore for half an hour, and then come up for a huggle for an hour afterwards, Pippin would sniff the air for a few moments, turn round and cuddle up to mama straight away(sometimes shoving his face under my arm for comfort!).



Love them both so much.

I made them little flapjack things the other day- realy cute!!!! Here are some piccies.

And they really liked them! I got the recipe from someone on this site and it is fab! They loved them so much- as you can see from the piccies.

Yesterday Benji was quite tired and calm, and so he huggled with me on the sofa for a few hours while I worked and watched tv. I sat and stroked him for about 3 hours- he hopped off every now and then to go and poke the tv, or sniff the sleeping cat on the radiator lol! But then he leapt back onto the sofa and flopped next to me to watch more tv.

Pippin was the more exploring one yesterday and decided he liked to run round the room binkying in front of the tv lol!!! I didn't mind though- it's wonderful to see them really happy and binkying non-stop for minutes.

Benji does the oddest binkies inside- outside he just leaps into the air and his ears and legs all jerk different ways lol! But then inside he does these strange binkies where he stays in the exact same position but leaps into the air without appearing to move a muscle. And then he does it forwards as well- just like those little toys you squish and then stick to the table and then they "pop" and go into the air?

The weather has been really awful over her in England- it has been raining non-stop and the wind has been horrific.

So my poor little buns haven't been able to go in their run- they have had me running out in the pouring rain to quickly scoop them up from their hutch and then charge inside again- then we both sit down with towells over us!!! Them each wrapped up warm in their own towell and me with a towell around my hair!!!!

This led me to have the most horrible dreams though. Last night I dreamt that the wind was so bad that I came down to see the rabbits and the bolts on their hutches had been blown off and the doors were flapping open.......it was so awful I woke up in tears, and then had to go down to both of them and hug them so much.

Isn't it cute how they do that? I have a photo of bo in a little wooden toy barn. He's actually peeking out like you can't see him. I've seen him and others do that.

Just a couple of days ago Bo hid his head under the woodstove as if I couldn't see his big butt sticking out LOL!

Haha, like Benji, Snuff does the exact same thing doing binkies outside, I make fun of him and say he needs a TuTu and hubby gets mad at me. He has to stick up for his Snuff.

Hehe Bo B Bunny could you send some pics if you have some? They sound just too cute. Lol Benji is adorable and he knows it!! He was playing up to the camera like crazy; washing right in front of me, peering sweetly over things, lying down and sticking his feet out lol!!!

AngelnSnuffy- thanks- yes they seemed to enjoy them!! Although we don't have a coffee grinder so I had to grind all the pellets in a stupid pestle and mortar or however you spell it. Grrrrrr took me hours!!! but it was worth it to see them gobbling them up!! Haha yes a tutu would set the whole thing off lol!!!!

I am making some real progress with Pippin now- I am so pleased! Benji is the most confident, friendly guy you will find, but Pippin is very shy. He usually sees me coming and runs and hides, and won't even come out when I coax him. I used to just get him out anyway, becuase I really wanted him to be with me for a few hours a day at least. I thought- well he will not like it at first, but in time he will really like it.
But I have decided against that approach- I think Pippin wil still run away when he sees me coming becuase he knows he will be picked up- he doesn't really like being picked up.

He sometimes likes coming insde- he will bound onto my lap and sit there licking me, snuggling up for an hour or so. But sometimes he will make these little humming sounds and thump. It's like....'hmmmmmmMMMMMMMM THUMP*'.

But now I have decided to do it this way-
For a few days (or however long it takes) just go outside and sit with him- don't try to touch him- just talk to him and let him come up if he wants to- don't open the hutch. So this way he will know I am "good".

He does now- he doesn't run away when I go out there- I stick my fingers through the bars and he licks them and I rub his nose etc. for a few minutes. (if I try to open the hutch he runs away though).

So that is my next goal- he feels comfortable with my fingers through the bars, touching him, so now I just need to make him feel comfortable when I open the hutch, don't try to touch him, but maybe just let him come to me or provide a tasty morsel!!!!

So I have made progress with him!!!! He never used to lick me (I posted a thread about this one time), but now he does all the time, and he doesn't run away from me when I go to see him- he licks me and lets me stroke him through the bars!

I was very lucky with Benji. When I first got him I didn't really know how to hold or pick up rabbits etc. so he used to hop off when I tried to pick him up. Once i knew how to, though, every time I came out, he would get so excited, run round in circles and lick me through the bars. Then he would just sit there for me to pick him up, and as I walked inside with him he would lick my shoulder or wherever his head was.
Then we would get inside and he would run round and binky, tire himself out for half an hour, and then leap onto the sofa and snuggle down next to me, and lick my hand and then demand grooms!!!
Pippin binkies inside sometimes too- but he goes craaaaazzzy outside with Benji- it is soooo funny to see then binky at the same time next to one another!!!!!!!!!!

Ya know? I keep the pellets in a tupperware container and after like 2 bags, there's quite a bit of dusty stuff at the bottom, I have been dumping this and the remaining pellets ina sifter and throwing away the dusty stuff, the last time I did this I thought...wait. I could be saving this to make treats or to use in a slurry if I ever need to :foreheadsmack:. Maybe you could do that so you don't have the job of grinding them up if you make them treats very often.

Oooh, you should get a little video of them outside together.

Yeah I keep mine in a tupperware box too!! THat is a fab idea about the dust at the bottom- will use that.

I don't know how to put videos on the computer.....I'll try and work it out lol but it may take me a while! They are so adorable outside together though, licking eachother through the partition!!

Hey guys! Well it's been ages since I've updated my blog but here are some recent pics and stuff that's been going on!!!

Benji Pics:

This is my little bunny portrait of Benji and Rolo

This one just makes me laugh SO much!!! It's Benji running across my bed, and it looks (because of the blur) that his legs are like...wheels whirring round and round!! And he's got his head down like 'I MEAN BUSINESS!!!' lol.

Benji has been spending quite a lot of time with one of our cats- Lottie. I don't know why but they always BOTH sit on my bed at the same time. I think they enjoy each other's company, but they both seem to leave the other one alone and respect them.

Bless my gorgeous Benji just tires himself out binkying and exploring! It's hilarious to see him flip onto one side in that bunny flop

This one was quite an old picture, but I really love it. This was when he first started showing me lots and lots of affection. He was a really shy bunny at first, and I was so used to Benji constantly licking me and leaping onto me etc. that it seemed like my fault when Pippin didn't seem to bond with me like Benji had. But this was the day that it suddenly changed I don't really know why- he just seemed to suddenly trust me, and this bond like mine and Benji's formed in a matter of days and it was just wonderful.

Now I get licked to death all day every day!


Vets:

Well they have both been three times a year (two myxi, one cylap) for their boosters, which have all gone great. I feel like such a wonderful bunny owner because they both just snuggle and cling to me when we go there, like they feel so safe with me.

They both have had a few problems with their teeth.

Benji's inscisors seemed to have misaligned for a while and needed clipping, but then seemed to right themselves and realigned, weirdly. I am still keeping an eye on them but they seem absolutely fine now and wearing quite nicely.

Pippins inscisors were like that when I got him- the first time i took him to the vets he had this problem. But again it righted itself almost immediately after his first visit, and I haven't had a problem since. But apparently his molars might be overgrowing, so I am having to keep a watch on those- they seem to be fine, but I think i foresee a dental :S
